[0]
Guys , today I am in Amsterdam
[1]
and I will be telling you
[2]
how much money do you need
[3]
to explore this city .
[44]
So this is my hostel accommodation
[45]
and I am sharing this with
[46]
3 swedish girls and two slovak guys
[49]
and all of them are out right now .
[57]
A day transport pass for 8 euros (Rs. 600)
[59]
is valid in buses, metros
[61]
and the famous trams .
[63]
If not getting a day pass
[64]
a single journey ticket costs 3.5 Euros or Rs. 240
[66]
You can get a day pass for any number of days together
[68]
because as the days increase, the day pass costs less.
[72]
And now lets talk about the place where you can get
[74]
Pizzas, green stuff
[75]
And Hot stuff at the same place.
[77]
Here I am at the centre of the red light district
[79]
surrounded by windows
[81]
and it is forbidden to click pictures of the ladies here.
[84]
The ladies here will try to call you by showing their palm
[88]
by which they mean 50 euros
[90]
which I'm guessing is to go inside that window.
[94]
By the way prostitution in Netherlands is legal and government controlled.
[97]
And this historic red light district is a popular tourist attraction in amsterdam
[100]
which is very safe and is always crowded with tourists.
[111]
Cannabis, weed and marijuana
[114]
are legal in Netherlands for personal use
[116]
and weed smoking cafes over here are know as coffee shops.
[119]
One of the most popular coffee shops here is THE BULL DOG.
[121]
Even my hostel had a special smoke up zone .
[124]
From weed cakes, weed candies
[127]
to weed merchandise or pre rolled joints
[129]
you can get everything here .
[130]
But legal does not mean healthy
[132]
and one cannot possess more than 5 grams of stuff.
[136]
As internet data is a necessity today
[138]
vodafone is the safest option that provides data roaming in entire europe.
[142]
And plans are available starting from 15 (Rs. 1200 ) euros
[144]
going up to 25 (Rs. 1800 ) , 35 (Rs. 2500) and a max of 50 (Rs. 3500 ) euros.
[146]
Now lets talk about groceries
[148]
Carrots for 150 rupees for a kilo and onions for 120 rupees a kilo
[151]
and a single cucumber for 70 rupees.
[152]
Alright guys I am at mcdonalds now and the cheapest burger here is
[156]
a chilly chicken burger for 110 rupees.
[158]
A starbucks frappuccino for 350 rupees
[161]
And a complete meal at KFC with wings and coleslaw for 700 rupees .
[164]
Sub of the day for 300 rupees.
[166]
Pizza slice for 280 rupees.
[169]
A single egg for 13 rupees.
[171]
1 litre milk for 100 rupees.
[173]
Fresh bread for 100 rupees.
[174]
Redbull for 110 rupees.
[177]
Ready to eat sandwich for 300 rupees.
[179]
A meal at an Indian restaurant for at least 1000 rupees.
[183]
But a small meal of chicken , potatoes and roti for 350 rupees.
[186]
As Amsterdam is best seen on a bicycle or a boat
[190]
I'll tell you their ticket prices as well.
[192]
A 90 minute boat ride for 1300 rupees.
[205]
A bicycle on rent for 1 day for 500 rupees.
[211]
Flight tickets to Amsterdam from either Delhi or Mumbai
[214]
can cost around 40,000 rupees during the season time .
[216]
And at the end of the season for around 37,000 rupees.
[220]
Commonly covered destinations with Amsterdam are paris and Brussels
[224]
Both of which are effectively connected through trains .
[226]
A high speed train ticket can cost around 40 to 80 euros
[229]
and to get the best deals on internal tickets in europe you can visit goeuro.com
[233]
Most of the seats in this train are empty and this is a 8 seat section which is completely empty
[238]
so I guess I am traveling like a king.
[240]
You can take free guided tours to explore the city
[243]
where local guides walk you around the city and you get to learn a lot.
[247]
They don't charge any fees but they do expect a tip at the end of the tour
[250]
lets say around 2, 3, or 5 euros . (150 to 350 Rs)
[252]
and and a lot of hostels and websites offer these services.
[256]
And now its time for some drinks
[259]
Most people who drink gin and tonic do not know that gin is actually a dutch drink
[264]
and this shop behind me offers gin tasting in the authentic style.
[269]
A small cup for 350 rupees.
[272]
The famous heineken beer at a supermarket with 1+1 discount
[274]
can cost 40 rupees per can .
[277]
And another poplar local beer Amstel for 50 rupees per can .
[280]
And preferably buy hard liquor from duty free
[283]
you'll save a lot o money.
[285]
Drinks at local bars can cost 10 times than at the supermarket.
[288]
most people prefer to do open parties
[290]
as social drinking is acceptable (in limits).
[293]
As a lot of people tend to fall into canals after getting drunk, there are free to use urinals on the street.
[298]
Now lets talk about nightlife.
[300]
Other than the famous bars and coffee shops in red light district
[303]
there is no problem for single guys to go in the city's main nightclubs
[306]
with an entry fees from 5 (Rs. 400)to 15 euros. Rs (1200)
[309]
Drinks inside can cost around 5 to 8 euros with no cover charge. (Rs. 375 to Rs. 600)
[313]
And most hostels have their own pubs or bars where a lot of young travellers get together .
[317]
Other than parties, drugs or the red light district
[321]
this historic city is extremely beautiful and is an open museum all together.
[326]
And to learn more about the past of this city
[328]
you can choose one of the very amazing museums here
[354]
And now I will be trying some Dutch food with these beautiful here .
[358]
A lot of people including me try to survive on street food
[361]
which isn't that cheap anyways
[363]
For example : this Dutch Haring
[364]
which is basically a semi processed fish
[367]
MAN : And dip it in the onions can cost 350 rupees.
[371]
Stroopwafel ,which is basically a syrup biscuit can cost around 150 rupees
[375]
Kibbeling , which is basically fried fish
[377]
a small plate will cost around 350 rupees
[379]
Even after having all this I managed my daily food budget in 700 rupees
[383]
because one of my daily meals was bread with ready to eat veggies from haldiram
[386]
which cost me 150 rupees per meal.
[388]
I stayed in Amsterdam for a total of six days
[391]
and I will be telling you my every single expenditure.
[395]
A hostel for six nights costed me 2000 rupees per night
[398]
Outside food + groceries + ready to eat meal was for 800 rupees a day .
[402]
Daily transport for six days cost me 6000 rupees.
[406]
Spent around 2000 rupees in a club and on drinks.
[409]
And combined tickets of the museums I visited cost me 6000 rupees.
[412]
And if we talk about Escobar stuff, I'm not into that !
[415]
As a tourist , 3 days is enough to see amsterdam
[418]
and if you tend to save a little money on food and accommodation like I did
[421]
and visit only 2 or 3 museums, you can spend around 3 or 4 days in 15000 rupees only
[425]
So my hostel booking was till today only
[427]
and I asked them if I could extend it by a day , their price was very high
[429]
55 euros. (Rs. 4000)
[431]
So I checked out of my hostel and I'm headed towards another hostel
[434]
its a little far from the city but is much cheaper for 25 euros.(Rs. 2000)
[438]
