[0]
give me a high five you're good boy all
[4]
right
[5]
good kiss no no no kisses all right
[8]
thanks
[9]
hi everyone Andrew Lessman here and that
[12]
was Lincoln and I just wanted to record
[14]
a quick little video blog post because
[18]
we have gotten so many calls today at my
[21]
company inquiring about the events of
[23]
yesterday the events of yesterday I'm
[25]
specifically talking about the
[27]
acquisition of HSN by QVC the first
[31]
thing I want to say is that it's
[33]
something that I'm very pleased has
[35]
happened it's something that I had
[37]
suspected would happen for a few years
[39]
and frankly it's something I would look
[42]
forward to have happened a few years ago
[44]
and I'm glad it's finally happened now
[46]
the reason why is HSN is an exceptional
[50]
company QVC is an exceptional company
[52]
the the marriage of those two companies
[55]
will be an even better company I'm sort
[58]
of in a funny position I guess using the
[59]
analogy of marriage because when it
[62]
comes to TV retailing in that world back
[64]
in the day now it's more digital
[65]
retailing digital commerce but I was my
[68]
first parent so to speak was QVC for the
[71]
last 21 years that was about almost 6
[73]
years in the last 21 years my second
[76]
parent has been HSN so isn't it a nice
[79]
thing when both parents can finally get
[81]
together and get married so I guess
[83]
that's kind of poetic justice so for me
[85]
I've often talked about the quality of
[88]
my products that they're impeccable that
[89]
no company could compare in terms of the
[91]
quality of my products and and that's
[93]
certainly what I brought to QVC about 27
[96]
years ago but what I quickly learned at
[98]
QVC is no matter how great your products
[100]
are the most important thing the star of
[103]
the show is your customer which means
[106]
that service how you relate to that
[109]
customer the respect the compassion what
[112]
you show that customer is the most
[114]
important thing even more than your
[115]
products because everyone has products
[117]
and even if your products are truly
[118]
exceptional you don't want to be
[121]
shortchanging that product with inferior
[125]
service so the service that everyone has
[127]
always seen me give my interest in you
[130]
my interest in how the products affect
[132]
you the way
[133]
pay attention to your route reviews the
[135]
commentary that's something I learned
[137]
along a long time ago at QVC it's
[140]
something I brought with me to HSN which
[143]
is why I have felt
[144]
I've always been successful at HSN
[148]
because I wasn't trying to be successful
[150]
at business I was trying to be
[151]
successful fulfilling your needs and
[153]
that's something I learned a long time
[155]
ago at QVC QVC had always respected the
[158]
fact that they twisted my arm to go on
[160]
television I actually told the story in
[161]
a video a few weeks ago HSN is doing a
[164]
series of founders broadcasts and as a
[168]
founder of my company I did some videos
[170]
and they talked about whether there was
[172]
a turning point in my company or if
[174]
there was a mentor someone like that in
[176]
my life and what I spoke about was when
[178]
I first got to QVC that I didn't want to
[181]
go on television that it wouldn't be
[182]
something I do I'm a scientific
[184]
technical person I developed the
[187]
products I create the products but I
[188]
don't go on television that's not what I
[190]
do and and but for Joe Siegel the
[193]
original founder of QVC and Doug Briggs
[196]
at the time their EVP executive vice
[198]
president of merchandising eventually
[200]
the CEO and president for many years of
[202]
QVC but for their insistence that this
[205]
is what I should be doing this is what I
[207]
would do well I would have never done so
[209]
so without that you would not have seen
[213]
me for the last 21 years at HSN so to to
[217]
participate everyone's mind at rest
[219]
HSN will remain HSN QVC will remain QVC
[223]
the best of both members of that couple
[226]
are going to be shared and one thing I
[228]
could say about QVC and I said this in
[231]
my blog post today is that QVC has long
[233]
ago recognized the importance of
[235]
offering impeccable impeccable service
[237]
and they've made incredible investments
[239]
in their investments in their systems in
[241]
their operations and that reflects
[244]
directly on the experience you will have
[245]
I can now imagine that that's going to
[248]
be shared with HSN so for all of us at
[251]
HSN for you for me that's all a
[254]
wonderful benefit to all of us and just
[257]
without getting too much into the
[258]
business environment out there but we've
[261]
given what I do I have to be aware of
[263]
these things
[264]
and the business world is changing we
[267]
see what's happening to bricks and
[268]
mortar retail we see retail stores going
[270]
away transforming and it's really up to
[273]
businesses today to do what they can to
[275]
evolve to adapt to the changing
[277]
circumstances and it's sometimes that
[279]
means you create combinations and HSN
[282]
and QVC are kind of the two last
[285]
standing entities in the world of TV
[288]
retailing and that is now in the world
[290]
of digital retailing and their
[292]
combination without question will be a
[295]
much stronger QVC and a much stronger
[297]
HSN so if you love HSN it's a good thing
[300]
if you love QVC it's a good thing so
[303]
it's good all around it enables for for
[307]
me as a as a vendor and manufacturer of
[308]
products it enables me to provide a
[311]
better experience for you it enables
[313]
everyone out there to enjoy a better
[315]
shopping experience because there are
[317]
large behemoth entities out there that
[320]
really enable companies like HSN and QVC
[323]
to provide that warmer service-oriented
[328]
environment in terms of what I do I feel
[330]
that the most important thing I do has
[332]
never been making products and I always
[333]
say this I said this back 26 or 27 years
[337]
ago on QVC which they were happy to let
[340]
me go on air and not sell and simply
[342]
educate which is what I insisted on
[343]
doing and they were quite happy with it
[345]
then as was HSN for the last 21 years
[348]
but what I've always said and I've said
[350]
since I first went on TV gosh now almost
[352]
30 years ago I said it's not important
[355]
that you get my products what is
[357]
important that you get the information
[359]
because the information is what empowers
[362]
you it's what changes your life so again
[365]
as they often say change is difficult
[367]
even good change so I know the
[370]
announcement of this change in terms of
[372]
QVC and HSN it could be scary it could
[375]
be worrisome but I'm not worried and and
[378]
I know it's going to be a very good
[380]
opportunity and a very good change for
[383]
everyone who has enjoyed my brand for
[385]
the past 27 years and interestingly
[387]
enough I've already seen responses to my
[390]
blog post and I always see that
[391]
mentioned that you've been following me
[393]
since I was on QVC
[394]
so for many of you it's the same for me
[398]
just like going home so it's it's not
[400]
going to be a big change you won't
[403]
notice anything if anything I'm hoping
[405]
that the experience the shopping
[407]
experience simply improves and you have
[409]
greater opportunities to learn more
[411]
we'll have more video content for you so
[414]
we'll just provide a richer more
[416]
engaging experience with even better
[419]
products and even better pricing because
[421]
these are all the things the future will
[423]
afford us so again nothing to worry
[426]
about it's a very exciting future and if
[428]
anyone was worried it would be me and I
[430]
am not so you don't have any need to
[432]
worry so I will see you over the next
[435]
couple of weeks for July July is HSN's
[438]
40th anniversary for our beauty month so
[441]
I will see you then
[441]
have a great day
