[0]
watching today's winners and losers on
[1]
Wall through with our financial expert
[2]
Rob black and there's some good news
[4]
today at least on the job was from we're
[6]
starting to see a more of a drop in the
[7]
weekly claims yes on a trending basis
[10]
very important for week trending for the
[13]
last four weeks much more important than
[15]
the recent data that we saw that came
[17]
out today just on was it wintry mix was
[19]
it not but more corporations the United
[21]
States are not letting go of people on a
[24]
four-week trend that should lead to job
[26]
growth as the Year plays out as this
[29]
winter storm excuse kind of starts to
[32]
fade a little bit so positive news for
[33]
employment in America ya on the flipside
[35]
store closings and job losses radioshack
[38]
announcing over a thousand store
[40]
closings and now today we had staples
[42]
announcing their closing over 200 stores
[44]
I've said it once I'll say it again I'm
[46]
at the point where I don't like going
[48]
out of my home or my business maybe that
[51]
makes me a Rekluse but it also makes me
[52]
part of the American trend we don't like
[54]
going malls anymore staples is
[56]
downsizing or maybe right-sizing
[58]
compared look at that that's a football
[59]
field of just like there's no one there
[61]
there's just a lot of product at a store
[64]
at best at staples they're suffering
[67]
like Best Buy has suffered their
[68]
suffering like Radio Shack us offered
[70]
physical retail is struggling it begs
[72]
the question of like what to do with
[74]
real estate investment trust that
[76]
invests in mall reaps it begs the
[79]
question of you know again are we
[80]
getting more efficient staple said we're
[82]
gonna start doing more breakroom goods
[84]
like sodas because people are doing
[86]
toners and the workplace has changed
[88]
aggressively we need to change with it I
[90]
would avoid that stock getting a hit day
[92]
I just see it as a downward trend of
[94]
Americans are shopping online and it's
[96]
like that company's bleeding money I was
[97]
interested to read that they said half
[99]
of their sales are now online I thought
[101]
that was very interesting which is great
[102]
but as the investor guy they've also
[106]
said four straight quarters of declining
[108]
sales so it's a little bit too early to
[110]
say that they've that they're going to
[111]
turn around or that they could even pull
[113]
a turnaround off I think it and I know
[115]
they're not best they're not rub help me
[118]
here it's
[118]
fester male radio shack radio shotgun so
[121]
you can't even remember the name that's
[123]
how bad it is for radio show and to
[125]
obsolete words I think they're too radio
[127]
and Shaq well said all right speaking of
[129]
a radio talk about Pandora music and the
[132]
oakland-based company there's not taking
[134]
a hit today too much competition and
[136]
it's starting to catch up to them this
[138]
is a company that's got 70 million plus
[140]
users you recently saw whatsapp get
[142]
acquired by Facebook because of 450
[145]
million users Pandora the best thing
[147]
that they got for going for them as
[148]
active users there's not a lot of money
[150]
to be made they are one of the biggest
[152]
radio stations in America but they've
[154]
got competition from i heart radio from
[156]
apple from google from spotify to Moog
[161]
there's just so many competitors out
[163]
there tough for them to ultimately win I
[166]
think they get acquired maybe 23 years
[168]
from now and there was all of the SATs
[170]
today and changes to the scoring and is
[172]
the Khan Academy have a part of this yes
[174]
Khan Academy is an online reptile of the
[176]
Khan Academy I think it's brilliant idea
[178]
I love the Khan Academy to you know what
[180]
I love about it well the fact that it
[182]
brings education to people who can't
[184]
afford education I like it for kids it
[186]
flips the education model where you
[187]
learn your lessons at home and you do
[189]
your homework at school yes and the s80
[192]
is starting to get 21st century they've
[194]
lost I'd say credibility compared to the
[197]
AC T and the Khan Academy working with
[200]
them will allow motivated students to
[202]
study and not with a 30-dollar book and
[205]
not with a tutor which obviously people
[207]
with money could afford this is a 1
[209]
billion dollar industry and I like the
[211]
fact that Khan Academy an online study
[214]
and impress is displacing you know a
[217]
billion dollar industry and I like the
[219]
s80 who is a non-profit saying like hey
[221]
we're gonna welcome them even though
[223]
they hurt our business model it's pretty
[224]
amazing and pretty much take all the
[225]
classes to get your NBA say online when
[228]
never having to step foot in the class
[229]
what was your SATs course I was 15 my
[233]
name is 15 10 or 14 9 I was 14 for now
[237]
we can compare with the kids today once
[238]
again because it's going back to 1600 we
[241]
couldn't compare with them we actually
[242]
can't because they're making it a lot
[243]
easier now the SATs they're getting rid
[246]
of the essay and they're making the
[248]
words much more Street words versus you
[251]
know extrapolate of you know big words
[253]
that don't mean a lot peoples are some
[255]
big s80 words they're up see and if you
[257]
have a question for Rob you can post on
[259]
his facebook page will answer it here on
[261]
