No Charge to Charge! Free Electric Vehicle Chargers in Hyattsville - YouTube

Channel: unknown

[2]
We've been working with the city of Hyattsville
[6]
to bring these charging stations
[9]
level 3 DC fast chargers
[12]
and level 2 charging stations and
[14]
It's really cool, after about a year of working together here they are. I'm very excited.
[21]
Hyattsville is a sustainable community, it's something that
[25]
we believe in and certainly we think that having some EV charging stations is consistent
[29]
with our mission and goals and certainly responsive to the people who live here, work here and want to grab a bite to eat here
[39]
We feel that this no charge to charge model encourages people
[46]
To adopt electric vehicles and adopt electric drive. The idea of
[51]
driving electric is now a possibility.
[60]
We got this car about a month ago and
[64]
We were delighted to find the city welcoming us with these EV spots.
[71]
We actually come here certain days, we make excuses like "Hey do you want to go get coffee and maybe like
[76]
like go get some free charging?". We really appreciate it.
[81]
We see these chargers as a way to be responsive to our consumers,
[85]
our residents here. Visiting and shopping down in Hyattsville, enjoying our restaurants
[90]
Certainly having free energy for your vehicle beats having to pay $4 at the pump.
[96]
A local Police Department is making history after purchasing an electric cruiser and motorcycle for it's officers
[104]
Well the reason the Police Department decided to get an electric police vehicle
[109]
the city of Hyattsville in general has been for a very long time a very progressive
[115]
community that has been working hard to become more environmentally friendly
[122]
and the most obvious way they have done that in the last 10-15 years is by reducing
[128]
the amount of carbon emissions that are spewed from the tailpipes of gasoline powered automobiles
[139]
Because we are a medium sized city we have a lot of vehicles here used by the city
[145]
for police, public works, code enforcement, parking enforcement, etc...
[150]
and in the past 10 or so years the city has acquired several all electric
[157]
vehicles, they are called low speed vehicles that are used by parking and code enforcement.
[161]
But we have not had anything in the police department specifically that was all electric
[167]
And the goal here was to get an all electric vehicle
[171]
turn it into a police car and see how it would hold up to the rigors of police work
[176]
and whether or not the range of the charged battery could handle day-to day law enforcement and patrolling of the streets of the city
[193]
We're here in Hyattsville, MD for the Electric Car Show
[198]
September is the month that they really concentrate on
[202]
on electric cars and being green
[208]
I have never been in Hyattsville before today and I think it is fantastic!
[218]
So here is your charger
[223]
Why did I get an EV car? I always liked the idea of not having to use gas.
[230]
This is ny 2nd year being here. I'm very happy.
[233]
A lot more people here this year than last year. It seems to be growing.
[240]
I think it is fantastic that Hyattsville is putting free electric chargers in my neighborhood.
[245]
It speaks well of the Arts District. We are suppose to be sustainability focused
[250]
or energy efficient community and this just takes it up another notch.
[259]
Chatter
[262]
You're gonna see chargers popping up everywhere!
[268]
I have used the chargers in Hyattsville twice
[270]
because I come up here occasionally to meet colleagues
[273]
or friends for brunch so I will pull into the municipal lots and charge my car.
[279]
Hyattsville has stepped into the 21st century
[282]
Hyattsville is recognizing that the world is changing and that they are going to be leaders in this.
