Hello everyone welcome back to the channel
[2]
and today i am going to talk about a very interesting topic
[4]
OEM Guitars VS Branded Guitars
[6]
So do watch this video till the end
[9]
Because after watching this video it will get easier for you to buy a guitar in any price range
[14]
So lets get started
[25]
OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer
[29]
Basically in this concept a manufacturer produces equipment or parts for some other brand or company
[35]
mostly products available worldwide are manufactured in China
[39]
so OEM Guitars have the same concept
[42]
That a musical instrument distributor located in India gets guitar manufactured in China as per hisPrice, specification & branding
[51]
In different parts of India different music instrument distributors are located
[54]
so everyone has their own branding
[57]
But the guitars are manufactured in china
[59]
The most common brands available in India are
[67]
and there are many other brands that you can get in different states or location
[73]
because different distributors located in different parts of India get guitars manufactured as per their own branding
[80]
So the main difference between OEM and Branded guitars is that you get OEM guitars at an affordable price
[86]
Here I have an OEM brand Pluto 41 inches guitar with cutaway design
[91]
This you can buy in around Rs5000-5500
[94]
so this has a decent build quality
[97]
you can see
[99]
The top has a sunburst finish and you even get ivory binding
[103]
and the whole guitar has gloss finish
[104]
so it gives quite a premium feel
[106]
and price wise it's a really good guitar
[109]
so here you are getting a 41 inches body
[112]
secondly you are getting a cutaway deisgn
[114]
if you see 41 inches size in branded guitars they are without cut
[119]
here you can see
[121]
I have Cort AD810
[123]
here you don't get a cutaway design
[125]
similarly in F310 you don't get a cutaway design
[128]
so here you have an advantage that if you want a cutaway or non cutaway design
[132]
you get a lot of variety in OEM guitars
[135]
whereas in branded guitars design wise you don't get much variety
[140]
so these guitars are available at a reasonable price
[142]
but they have some problems also
[143]
like out of the box the setup of the guitar is not good
[147]
like the action of the guitar is high if i compare it to a branded guitar
[152]
the quality check in these guitars is not that good as compared to branded guitars
[156]
some guitars are built well some are not
[160]
some guitars have problem in frets
[161]
in some guitars the bridge is not glued properly
[163]
the joints are not properly glued together
[166]
suppose if we see this guitar only
[169]
the frets are not filed properly
[171]
so if i slide here so these frets hurt my fingers
[175]
so these are some disadvantages of OEM guitars
[178]
but if we see price wise these guitars are value for money
[180]
because you get a decent sound and the build quality is also quite decent
[184]
so if you can't afford branded guitars
[186]
then definitely go for OEM Guitars
[189]
now if we talk about branded guitars
[191]
the only disadvantage is the price
[194]
they are a bit expensive
[195]
you have to shell out Rs8000-1,000 on a dreadnaught size guitar
[198]
but if we talk about there build quality or sound
[203]
it's quite good
[204]
build quality is great
[206]
quality control is really good
[208]
almost 95% of OEM guitars are made in China
[213]
in branded guitars you get option
[216]
some guitars like fender sa series
[218]
sa 105 or sa 150
[220]
these are made in China
[222]
but guitars like Yamaha f310 or this Cort AD810
[225]
these guitars are made in Indonesia
[228]
guitars manufactured in Indonesia have a really good quality
[233]
so if we talk about this guitar the build quality is really great
[236]
quality check is also good
[238]
out of the box guitar is setup well
[241]
and the frets are also filed properly
[242]
so when i slide here there is no problem
[245]
its very smooth
[246]
and the finish is quite premium
[248]
so it really becomes a good investment in a music instrument
[251]
personally i would suggest if you can afford and stretch your budget
[257]
then go for branded guitars only
[260]
in this main disadvantage is a higher price and secondly you don't get a non cutaway design only in dreadnaught size
[268]
so if you have any of my previous videos I had made a review video on Yamaha FS100C
[272]
which comes with a cutaway design
[275]
so my personal suggestion would be that if you can afford or stretch your budget then go for branded guitars only
[281]
because this becomes a one time investment
[284]
overall the build quality is great
[286]
setup is also good
[287]
so there are no hassles
[289]
and these guitar could go for years as compared to OEM guitars
[294]
now lets have a sound comparison between both the guitars
[362]
