How to setup Vendors to Receive 1099's in QuickBooks - YouTube
Channel: Candus Kampfer
[0]
hey it's Candace and in today's
[1]
QuickBooks tips and tricks we are gonna
[3]
discuss vendors and 1099s so 10:09 1099s
[7]
are for independent contractors people
[10]
who are not your employees who provide
[12]
services for you and make their own
[15]
schedule there's all these different
[17]
things but over $600 so today I want to
[20]
teach you how do you go in and set it up
[22]
within QuickBooks verify it kind of
[24]
start the preliminary process but you're
[26]
gonna actually need to do once the end
[29]
of you gets here but if you are having
[31]
them fill out the forms the w9 and
[33]
throughout the year then when it's time
[37]
to actually print the forms you're not
[39]
scrambling around trying to get the
[41]
information you need and moving forward
[43]
from now to the end of the year if you
[45]
have new vendors that you're working
[46]
with make sure that you get the forms
[48]
filled out that you need so come look
[50]
over my shoulder I'm going to teach you
[51]
today how to set it up and then we will
[53]
have a secondary or a part two video on
[56]
actually how to print the 1099 so let's
[58]
get started so the first thing to know
[60]
when you're gonna do two 99s is that you
[62]
need to get a form called a w9 so i'm
[65]
gonna provide the website HTTP for these
[69]
so that you can quickly and find them so
[71]
this is the w9 you can actually print
[73]
this you can ink you can download the
[75]
PDF email it to them have them send it
[76]
back but what you're gonna need to do is
[78]
you're gonna need to make sure that they
[79]
have their name on here and all this
[81]
different information you basically need
[83]
their name their address and their
[84]
social security or employer
[86]
identification number and then it tells
[88]
you a little bit more down here about it
[90]
and backup withholding and how it all
[92]
works and all that kind of stuff and
[94]
right down here it lets you know if the
[97]
payment is for and so it kind of goes
[99]
through here and lets you know payments
[100]
over six hundred dollars we require to
[102]
be reported and direct sales of over
[105]
five thousand dollars so this is kind of
[107]
gives you an idea of who needs to
[108]
receive it
[109]
there's also which I will include for
[111]
you and instructions for you a little
[113]
bit about information you can read
[116]
through and you can feel free to talk to
[118]
your tax professional if you have
[120]
additional questions so what we're gonna
[122]
do is we're gonna go inside of
[123]
QuickBooks and I'm gonna show you what
[125]
it looks like inside of QuickBooks so
[127]
the first thing you're going to do is
[128]
you're going to go under vendors and you
[130]
will see it says print efile 1099
[134]
and there's a 1099 wizard there is a
[136]
review there's summary reports so if you
[139]
look under review what that's gonna
[141]
allow you to do is see all your vendors
[142]
this is my sample QuickBooks file I do
[144]
for training purposes and let you know
[147]
who you've put a if you put a tax ID
[149]
number in if you've marked them as
[151]
eligible within QuickBooks and what
[154]
their address and information is along
[156]
here and if you have all their address
[157]
you can actually look this up again that
[161]
was under vendors 1099 print efile 1099
[164]
s and that was review the next one would
[166]
be the summary report and what this
[169]
allows you to do is anybody that you've
[170]
marked as eligible it will let you know
[172]
what the dollar amount is and which box
[174]
that's going to another box we will
[176]
worry about when we're getting ready to
[178]
print the ten and nine it allows you to
[180]
put onto the 1099 which box you want the
[183]
amount of money to go into so we're not
[186]
going to worry about that today today is
[188]
just about deciding who needs to get to
[190]
ninety nine s so far into the year and
[192]
making sure that you are providing them
[194]
with a w-9 because you need to know
[196]
their tax ID number so how you would do
[199]
that is once you go in and you're inside
[201]
the vendor Center and you find somebody
[203]
that you say that you need to provide it
[205]
1099 to we're gonna pick this video
[207]
service you pick them as a vendor you go
[210]
here under the little pencil you select
[212]
that you go under tax settings here to
[216]
the left and you'll see it says vendor
[219]
tax ID you can either put a social
[221]
security number in there or an employer
[223]
identification number and then below
[226]
that you checkmark if they're eligible
[228]
for a 1099 and that is all you need to
[231]
do at this place within click at this
[234]
step within it first figure out who
[236]
needs to receive them and then make sure
[237]
you get a w-9 from them and you input
[241]
make sure that the address if you click
[243]
on a little pencil make sure that their
[245]
name that they want to show up that's
[247]
their legal name for their taxes is
[249]
correct and then what address that they
[251]
is correct as well that they'll be
[253]
receiving the taxes to and that their
[256]
tax ID number is in here that's it for
[258]
now I will post all of the information
[260]
below this video so you can find the
[263]
links to the w9 and the instructions if
[265]
you have any other questions feel free
[267]

[267]
contact me and as always if you've
[269]

[271]
who could benefit from it
[272]

[274]

[277]

[279]

[281]
