in my life i know that the moments where um i was  probably the most disobedient you know it started  

because i had not yet fully received the love of  god and so how simple that is like if you love me  

you will keep my commandments and i think that  when we read it the way lisa you talked about  

it changes everything and it breaks off the  chain of religion because it says that if  

when you struggle with obedience you have not  yet come into the perfection of my love when it  

talks about perfect love cast out all fear and  so when we're struggling with things there's a  

fear of the unknown feel of uncertainty fear of  looking stupid fear of not winning the battle  

all this stuff but it's rooted in fear and  so there is a love of jesus that when that is  

the foundation that everything else flows with  ease and so in my life i recognize that when i  

struggled with i don't think i want to do that i  had not yet received the love of god in a manner  

that was healing and in a manner that i could  actually rely and rest on it to add to that i  

think it's a trust issue sometimes i think we  don't trust that god has our best interests at  

heart and we do see him sometimes like a task  master you must follow me keep my commands that  

sounds such a strong word but his commandment  like holly said he boiled them down to two  

love me love people but i think it's a  trust issue and i think every time i've  

not wanted to obey is because i feel like he's  asking too much of me and is it going to end in  

failure is it going to end in me looking silly  so ultimately there's a pride issue in my life  

because i'm not wanting to just surrender my  rights and lay it down trusting that the god  

who saved me loves me has purpose for me you  know right back from the garden i mean he put  

a commandment there for our protection and so  that our lives would be blessed but disobedience  

actually made us independent from god and that  independence now has actually disrupted the  

beautiful flow of if you follow my teaching you'll  be blessed if you disobey they'll be cursing not  

because i want to punish you and i hate you but  actually the consequence of disobedience is always  

destruction and so i think we need to know that we  can trust god that when he asks us to do something  

it's actually for our benefit and for those that  are around us you know i love that because um  

because i believe that if there's no obedience  and there's no foundation you know god says  

if you love me you'll keep my commandments  you'll you'll do what i ask and the protection  

is there the protection because he  knows that only in him are we able to  

grow and live and have our being without god  without without with you know we can all play the  

part we can all um dress like it and look like it  and act you know but if we're not actually doing  

it if we're not actually self-sacrificing to obey  what god tells us then that just leads to death  

and there's and and god knows that because he made  it all so uh it that that protection is there and  

i love this quote it says obedience is the organ  through which intimacy with god is obtained and um  

and and i love that it's like the man who built  his house on solid rock and when the winds came  

it stood firm the winds blew and and it  was a solid foundation and i think that  

just comes from obedience to god's word i love  what you said lori um you know i think about  

and y'all don't get freaked out i remember reading  that the first commandment in the satanic bible  

was do what thou wilt do your own will do whatever  you want be self-driven self-motivated it said  

whether it's good or bad just just do do it  your own way and i think too many people right  

now think that the obedience factor is going to  actually limit their life but the book of isaiah  

tells us that god said i will show you the way i  work what does he do he he works strength in our  

life he works faith in our life he works endurance  in our life every time i have chosen obedience  

it's because i trusted god when i didn't actually  understand why i should do it it didn't make any  

sense but it it actually affirmed my relationship  so god shows us the way he works so that you and i  

can live the way we are made wow we are made to  have a obedient relationship with a living god  

we are not supposed to be just obeying tablets of  stone we're supposed to have this incredible brand  

new heart that's tender you know i remember the  day i got born again all of a sudden everything  

looked different sounded different felt different  i went into my college dorm room i'm like jesus i  

need you to stay in the hall we got some bad stuff  in there that i need to i need to throw out you  

know but but but i didn't nobody said you got bad  stuff nobody said that but when you get born again  

god fixes an impossible problem we have a  heart of stone we have a wicked deceptive heart  

and he takes out that heart of stone he puts in a  heart of flesh and not just any spirit but ezekiel  

tells us he puts his holy spirit in us and i've  just found any time i listen to the holy spirit  

i have this sensitivity and i flow and anytime  i'm like no i'm going to do it my way i end up  

not hearing the voice of god and getting confused  until i wrap myself back into a place of obedience
