Cost of sex reaffirmation surgery MTF | Penile Inversion | Sigmoid Colon | Peritoneal pull through - YouTube
Channel: Transgender India
[7]
Hello everyone, my name is Neysara and in today's video we will see how much the Male To Female Sex Change surgery costs.
[15]
Basically, Male to Female Sex Change Surgery are of three types
[20]
First, Penile Inversion Vaginoplasty, Second, Sigmoid Colon Vaginoplasty and Third, Peritoneal Pull Through which we also call Fold Vaginoplasty
[33]
The three of these techniques were discussed in detail in the last video whose link will be displayed on the top button here!
[41]
If you want to know more about these surgeries then please do watch this video.
[47]
The costs I am discussing here are the rates of Indian surgeons here in India, I am not including the costs in Bangkok etc.
[57]
neither am I including PriyaMED because they specifically market their services to foreigners so they are expensive.
[65]
I am only going to talk about Indian companies and Indian hospitals and I wanted to start with that disclaimer.
[73]
First let's talk about Penile Inversion Vaginoplasty. This is a tried and tested method of vaginoplasty which costs around 2.75 to 3.5 lakhs.
[85]
So the first technique, which is the penile inversion technique's surgery cost including the first two or three days of hospital stay, costs around 2.75 to 3.5 lakhs.
[101]
It depends on the surgeon what the exact cost is but this is a normal range for it (2.75 to 3.5 Lakhs)
[108]
The second technique, sigmoid colon vaginoplasty might cost around 3 to 4 lakhs including the 2 to 3 days of hospital stay. This was the sigmoid colon.
[120]
The third technique, peritoneal pull through vaginoplasty might also cost around 3 to 4 lakhs including the two to three days of hospital stay.
[130]
The rates that I have discussed now are of Indian hospitals and Indian surgeons.
[135]
Another thing to keep in mind is that the surgeons and hospitals performing these are available in big cities
[142]
Like, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore etc.
[148]
Your stay and travel expenses are additional.
[151]
And they make you stay at the hospital for two to three days
[155]
but you'd have to live with a friend or in a hotel for 10 to 15 more days because if you have any complications, you would have to consult the same surgeon.
[167]
So this is why it is recommended that you stay in the city for at least 10 to 15 days, and this would be an additional expense. Apart from this, there might be more expenses.
[178]
And as per my knowledge, many of the surgeons while performing a surgery want to stay safe for the future
[185]
which means that they leave some extra skin near the labia. And probably also extra tissue near the clitoris.
[196]
A lot of the people think that the surgeons didn't do a good job because the clitoris is too big.
[202]
So they do this because in case there is a problem in the future and they have to revise something in the surgery so they could use the extra skin to revise it easily by tightening the extra skin.
[214]
So if you think you don't need the extra skin or a revision surgery then you will have to go to the surgeon again and this secondary surgery will cost you around 40 to 50 thousand.
[232]
So you would need to add that to your plan too if needed.
[235]
Now I will talk about foreign surgery, especially Bangkok and Thailand.
[240]
I don't want to name names but I personally am of the opinion that surgeons there are not better than Indian surgeons. I feel like both are equally capable of these surgeries.
[259]
I have talked to a lot of women, women who have gone to the best surgeons in Bangkok as well as the ones who chose Indian ones like Richi Gupta
[271]
and I have concluded that there is no difference in the satisfaction or confidence that one group has than the others.
[284]
Both of the groups have almost similar complaints. So if you chose a surgeon from India they have almost the same level of expertise.
[298]
Another thing is that is said is that Bangkok surgeons are used to conducting these surgeries on a regular basis
[304]
but this is also true for Indian surgeons who specialize in sex change surgeries. So I think that Indian surgeons have the same expertise.
[318]
And if you go to a foreign surgeon then you will have to pay 15 to 20 lakhs for the surgery and the travel and other expenses are kept aside here.
[330]
If you have the means then you can choose this. If the difference of the sum doesn't matter to you or your parents are supportive you could definitely choose this
[345]
but there are no differences in quality.
I objectively cannot find any difference.
[352]
Personally I think your surgeons should be reachable for you, in case of complications, it'll be difficult to take a flight and travel to them.
[365]
So I would like to recommend Indian surgeons to you from my side.
[372]
Apart from all these expenses I would recommend you to keep 20% extra buffer money with you
[380]
because these are major surgeries and could lead to complications. And if there are complications it is necessary to keep 20% extra budget in hand.
[393]
If we talk of recovery time, then no matter what your doctor says it might take you anywhere between 45 days to 6 months to recover fully.
[405]
Keep this in mind, because this might affect your income.
