DeSantis Allegedly DEMANDED Cash From Florida University Trustees - YouTube

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is being accused of something pretty devastating.
[8]
And it has to do with campaign corruption, campaign donations, which for the most
[13]
part we've legalized that kind of bribery and it's totally fine based on our laws.
[17]
But, what he's being accused of doing here is essentially pressuring members
[24]
of university boards of trustees to give him money or else he won't reappoint them.
[30]
So this was an accusation that was lodged against him by the current
[34]
State Agriculture Commissioner, Nikki Freed.
[37]
She's planning on running against him when he runs for reelection, so
[41]
full disclosure on that, but it seems like there's some truth to her allegations.
[46]
She says this, our current boards of trustees across the state were required
[51]
to give a campaign contribution to Ron DeSantis in the amount of $100,000.
[57]
And if they didn't give him the campaign contribution,
[61]
they were not reappointed to the boards.
[63]
That is what we are dealing with here in the State of Florida with this Governor.
[68]
Now again, it is unfortunately perfectly legal to donate hundreds of
[72]
thousands of dollars to various politicians and
[76]
then in return get all of these appointments, right?
[79]
But in this case threatening various people with their positions
[85]
unless they give you money, that is not legal, okay?
[89]
So Ron DeSantis' appointments are stacked with his biggest donors,
[94]
and the boards of trustees are no different.
[97]
DeSantis' corruption, according to a campaign spokesperson for
[102]
Freed, knows no limits, even when it means compromising on Floridians schools.
[108]
And is there any truth to this?
[110]
Well, when you look at some of these donations, it looks like there could be.
[115]
For instance, at least nine current members on boards of trustees across
[119]
Florida's university system have made donations to Ron DeSantis 2022 campaign.
[125]
Or other state GOP, either in their own name through their company or
[129]
via spouse, according to state campaign finance records.
[133]
So I think the best example is the University of South Florida's Leslie Muma,
[140]
his wife actually gave $100,000 to Ron DeSantis' campaign this year.
[146]
>> Nicky Freed says he asked for $100,000, and then look at that, he got a $100,000,
[151]
probably a wild coincidence.
[152]
So there's several layers of corruption here in the case of the Ron DeSantis and
[158]
he's done this many times.
[160]
So when the vaccine first came out, you remember the stories where
[164]
he got it to communities that had his largest donors.
[168]
First, he went out of his way to make sure they got the vaccine after his rich donors
[173]
were vaccinated, he then turned around and
[175]
said come on, who needs the vaccine and the mass and stuff?
[178]
Let's not take any precautions, who cares, right?
[182]
But after all of his donors were taken care of and this whole system is corrupt.
[186]
No, you shouldn't make the board of trustees of universities weirdo, corrupt
[191]
people who gave bribes to politicians whether they're Republicans or Democrats.
[196]
And now, of course, leave it to Ron DeSantis to take it to the next level and
[200]
go no, if you don't give it to me, I'm gonna kick you off the board.
[204]
Which, by the way, you're such a knucklehead, that's illegal,
[206]
you don't need.
[207]
There's so many ways to get legal bribes, but power corrupts and
[211]
absolute power corrupts absolutely.
[214]
>> Now here are some other examples,
[217]
remember there were professors who were supposed to testify in these
[222]
lawsuits against the state's handling of coronavirus data.
[227]
And before they were set to testify,
[230]
all of a sudden the university's prevented them from doing so.
[234]
In late October,
[235]
it became public that multiple professors from the University of Florida were
[239]
restricted from participating in lawsuits against the State University of Florida.
[244]
Employees were told verbally not to criticize Governor Ron DeSantis or
[249]
University of Florida policies related to COVID19 in media interactions.
[255]
And now there's an investigation in regard to that censorship, and
[259]
we'll see where it ends up.
[261]
But it is fascinating that these professors were essentially told no,
[265]
you're not allowed to testify in these lawsuits,
[268]
you're not allowed to criticize Ron DeSantis.
[270]
And honestly, it really doesn't surprise me.
[274]
And to be sure what we've seen with Governor Ron DeSantis in the state
[279]
of Florida is just this firm grip on intellectual freedom.
[283]
On the ability to get accurate and critical information out there to people,
[287]
so they can keep themselves safe during the coronavirus pandemic.
[291]
And while people are literally dying in that state as a result of his corrupt
[296]
leadership, he's deciding to focus all of his attention on anti woke legislation,
[302]
which we'll talk about in a bit.
[304]
>> Yeah, he's done several things against freedom of speech, they're Orwellian.
[308]
They say our biggest issue is freedom of speech,
[311]
we wanna be able to say racist things.
[313]
Then they turn around and go COVID numbers,
[315]
make sure the professor's shut up, they're not allowed to talk about it at all, okay?
[319]
And now on race, no,
[320]
we're gonna send vigilantes after teachers if they ever teach about racism.
