I Passively Made $24,239 Extra Last Year (How much I made on Youtube) - YouTube
Channel: unknown
[2]
hey i'm andy and this video is about the
[4]
holy grail of making money
[6]
passive income passive
[9]
income that looks pretty good
[18]
so can you make money while you sleep or
[20]
is that just an idea that people
[22]
who make videos in front of their
[23]
lamborghinis try to sell you is passive
[26]
income actually achievable
[27]
is it something anyone can do how many
[30]
more questions will i ask
[31]
eight i will ask you eight more
[33]
questions before this video is finished
[35]
i spoiled it
[39]
so plut by the way plum plus apricot
[43]
well i'm just a guy from the internet am
[46]
i from the internet or am i on the
[48]
internet
[48]
which the internet as you know is a
[50]
series of tubes but i've been able to
[52]
achieve
[53]
several different passive income sources
[55]
if i can do this
[56]
so can you some of the ideas i'm going
[58]
to cover have the potential to earn
[60]
quite a lot of money over the long haul
[62]
last year i earned 24
[64]
239 dollars with these passive income
[67]
sources
[68]
not including my investments if in any
[70]
of my previous videos you noticed that
[72]
where is it there it is that youtube
[75]
play button over my shoulder
[76]
we're going to talk about that too so
[78]
what is passive income
[80]
it's making money while you sleep or why
[82]
you sip mojitos on a tropical beach
[85]
with absolutely zero work involved right
[87]
nope
[88]
i don't think that type of passive
[89]
income exists if it does exist
[92]
and you know where to find it let's talk
[94]
seriously
[95]
call me i believe that even the easiest
[98]
passive income sources will require
[100]
some work at least at the beginning
[102]
though for the truly big passive income
[104]
sources i think they require a lot of
[105]
work at the beginning
[106]
and then some during the process to
[108]
maintain okay
[110]
excited let's dig in the first one i
[114]
want to dive into is youtube
[116]
where this video lives this is a youtube
[118]
video did you know that
[120]
youtube has been the single biggest
[122]
source of passive income
[123]
that i've had at this income source's
[125]
peak it was earning over two thousand
[127]
dollars in ad revenue a month so in 2015
[130]
i started a youtube channel called
[132]
burger fiction with my friend jonathan
[134]
hi jonathan
[136]
we worked insanely hard sometimes 30
[138]
plus hours per video and we built that
[140]
channel up to over 150
[142]
000 subscribers and over 65 million
[145]
views i still can't wrap my head around
[148]
that along with ad revenue we would make
[150]
money from sponsorships
[151]
and other opportunities the majority of
[153]
the ad money came from videos we had
[155]
already made
[156]
and they continued to make us money with
[158]
no input from us for the three years
[159]
that the channel was monetized it made a
[161]
total of thirty four thousand
[162]
six hundred and four dollars and
[164]
thirteen cents which is about thirty
[166]
dollars a day on average
[167]
in 2019 though it was trending towards
[170]
54
[171]
a day in ad revenue unfortunately for us
[174]
things
[174]
changed on youtube and the channel was
[176]
officially demonetized and no longer
[178]
makes ad revenue this is because youtube
[180]
doesn't want to deal with the legality
[182]
of monetizing movie super cuts
[184]
big bummer but it was still very worth
[186]
the time and effort we put into it
[188]
it also proved to me that this was a
[190]
viable source of income and still an
[192]
opportunity if i were to choose a
[194]
different
[194]
content path this is what motivated me
[196]
to start this channel
[198]
hello one because i'm excited to talk
[199]
about these topics but two
[201]
because i know it can eventually make
[203]
money and make all the time and effort i
[205]
put into it
[206]
worth it this is number one on my list
[208]
because it was my biggest passive income
[210]
source
[210]
it's also number one because i think
[212]
anyone can do it almost everyone has a
[214]
smartphone
[215]
with a camera that is better than the
[217]
video cameras i
[218]
learned video making on which is wild if
[221]
you can put in the work
[222]
find a niche create quality content
[225]
create it with regularity and
[226]
work the system you can make passive
[228]
income from youtube as well
[229]
number two twitch much like youtube you
[232]
can create video content and monetize it
[235]
but twitch is a very different beast
[237]
than youtube it requires a different way
[239]
of thinking different strategies and a
[241]
whole other set of skills now
[242]
this is a source of passive income that
[244]
i enjoy but put
[246]
almost no effort into i shouldn't say no
[248]
effort i have put in quite a bit behind
[250]
the scenes but this is one of my wife's
[252]
passive income sources yay marriage she
[255]
streams herself
[256]
practicing and playing her piano twice a
[258]
week on twitch she doesn't sing
[260]
she just plays her piano for people
[262]
chats with her viewers and interacts
[264]
with the community she's been building
[265]
her twitch stream for almost three years
[267]
and has been slowly growing it over time
[269]
she averages about 450 a month from
[272]
twitch subscriptions and ads
[273]
on top of that she also receives tips
[275]
but those amounts are much more variable
[277]
month to month there are people on the
[279]
platform
[279]
that play video game sing and play music
[282]
just chat
[283]
dance do asmr create art do podcasts
[287]
cook food workout travel etc etc like
[291]
youtube there are so many things you can
[292]
do on twitch but the key takeaway here
[294]
is that anyone can find something they
[296]
love to do
[297]
figure out how to build an audience
[299]
around it and then make
[300]
money passively even when they're not
[302]
streaming on the platform so
[304]
if you want a truly no work passive
[306]
income source
[307]
just marry someone who has one top tip
[310]
number three
[311]
print on demand now print on demand is
[314]
pretty neat and comes in a lot of
[315]
flavors
[316]
i like chocolate i think there are cool
[318]
opportunities to do print on demand
[320]
customized products like shirts and mugs
[323]
and art etc
[324]
i haven't tried any of that stuff myself
[326]
but i know that people make money with
[328]
it
[328]
where i have made money with print on
[329]
demand is with photo prints my
[331]
photography business
[332]
made about 3 200 last year in print
[335]
sales these are images i put onto our
[337]
online store
[338]
and then customers could go buy them
[340]
whenever they want
[341]
with no input from us i've also
[343]
experimented with this just a little bit
[345]
with my personal travel photos that have
[347]
nothing to do with
[348]
my main photo business now i put very
[351]
little effort into this so i haven't
[353]
made much in the way of sales definitely
[354]
something i want to put more focus on in
[356]
the future
[357]
and i've only made a few hundred dollars
[358]
with these images and that was mostly to
[361]
my dad
[361]
so thanks dad number four royalties
[365]
selling stock video audio music or
[368]
photos can be a great passive income
[370]
source
[371]
this is one i've made hundreds of
[372]
dollars with but not yet thousands as
[374]
someone who has been a creative
[375]
professional for over a decade i have
[377]
lots of photos
[378]
and videos i could be monetizing that
[380]
otherwise sit idly on hard drives i
[382]
could also be looking for relevant
[383]
opportunities to create new images and
[385]
videos that i think could sell i think
[386]
this is a no-brainer for myself but i
[388]
also think it's a great fit for anyone
[390]
who is either a hobbyist or professional
[392]
photographer videographer
[394]
as a video maker i have used so much
[396]
stock music over the years
[397]
i've used so much of it that i started
[399]
to hear the same songs all over youtube
[401]
and in other videos online
[403]
maybe you can relate for the amount of
[404]
video content that is put out all the
[406]
time
[407]
there is a really and relatively small
[409]
amount of good
[410]
quality stock music so if you are a
[412]
musician and can make
[413]
songs that are better than 50 of what's
[415]
currently available
[417]
and make a lot of it i think you can
[418]
make really good money with this one
[420]
number five
[421]
high yield savings account this one
[424]
is so exciting even the highest yield
[427]
savings accounts will not
[428]
beat the inflation rate especially right
[430]
now but they are still a great place to
[432]
keep money
[433]
that needs to remain accessible like an
[435]
emergency fund
[436]
do you have one if not please start one
[439]
so if you're going to keep
[440]
large amounts of money in an account you
[442]
might as well earn
[443]
something on it so it's not just losing
[445]
value this is where a high yield savings
[447]
account is great it's completely passive
[449]
and hands-off and it helps partially
[451]
offset inflation
[452]
two of my favorite high yield savings
[454]
accounts right now are ally bank
[456]
and discover number six cash back
[458]
rewards
[459]
cash back rewards are a great way to get
[461]
free money passively when you make
[463]
purchases you would have made regardless
[465]
we've earned thousands of dollars in
[466]
travel rewards through our chase
[468]
sapphire credit card
[469]
the catch here is that you should only
[471]
be spending what you would have spent
[473]
if you didn't receive rewards credit
[475]
cards can be great and you can take
[476]
advantage of some pretty sweet reward
[478]
programs
[478]
but it only makes sense if you stay on
[480]
budget and pay them off in full
[482]
every month if you start to carry high
[484]
interest credit card debt
[485]
the rewards are completely negated
[487]
number seven investing
[489]
investing is one of the truest forms of
[491]
passive income there is very little
[493]
input and maintenance required on your
[494]
part and investing is available to
[496]
almost anyone you invest money and then
[498]
you passively make money over time now
[500]
there are lots
[501]
and lots of options with investing and i
[503]
don't think there is any
[504]
right or top answer to where you put
[507]
your money because everyone has
[508]
different goals and needs
[510]
however i think if you fit the
[511]
requirements a roth ira is one of the
[513]
strongest options here's a video about
[515]
that
[516]
beyond that i think investing in index
[517]
funds and dividend stocks are great and
[520]
with dividend stocks you get paid
[521]
dividends every month
[523]
quarter or year that's money in your
[525]
pocket passively on the regular
[527]
number eight crypto currency you know
[530]
them fake digital dollars what is that
[533]
voice
[534]
okay this one is a bit controversial and
[536]
i would recommend
[537]
most everything else on this list before
[539]
you start putting
[540]
any time or money into cryptocurrency
[543]
that said i think this one is really
[544]
exciting and has
[546]
massive future potential there are a lot
[548]
of ways to have passive
[549]
cryptocurrency income i make money every
[552]
single day
[553]
through staking running nodes in servers
[555]
and from mining staking is like a high
[557]
yield savings account
[558]
if staking is available for a crypto
[560]
asset you hold it in your digital wallet
[562]
and over time it earns you interest this
[564]
is the smallest piece of my crypto pie
[567]
i make between 40 to 65 dollars a month
[569]
with staking
[570]
i primarily stake two crypto currencies
[572]
called xlq
[573]
and veil running a node or server
[576]
sometimes called a masternode is a
[578]
pretty cool option
[579]
however it is very tough to figure out
[581]
which coins and projects are scams
[583]
and which ones are legitimate it can
[585]
take a lot of research and due diligence
[587]
also as with everything if it sounds too
[589]
good to be true
[590]
it is so if you see a cryptocurrency
[592]
that has a node option
[594]
or a masternode and they are advertising
[596]
1 000 to 3
[597]
000 returns then run far far away
[601]
one of my top five cryptocurrencies i
[603]
hold is called zell
[604]
it's actually my second biggest crypto
[606]
holding after bitcoin it's a fantastic
[608]
project with a great team
[610]
they are building a computational
[611]
network made up of online servers that
[613]
can be built on by
[614]
developers these servers are very
[616]
powerful and the collective compute
[618]
power behind them is impressive
[619]
if you run one of these servers you're
[621]
rewarded with zell every day which you
[623]
can then cash in or hold on to as a
[625]
future investment
[626]
which is what i do i also run servers
[628]
for a cryptocurrency called
[630]
nizo between the two of these i make
[632]
about 375 dollars a month running these
[634]
servers
[635]
crypto mining is where you run computer
[637]
hardware yourself that either creates
[638]
and mints new coins or verifies
[641]
transactions on the network and makes a
[643]
reward
[644]
this is by far the most complicated of
[645]
these methods i'm talking about here
[647]
so i can't do it justice in a short
[649]
amount of time this is also a much
[651]
longer term investment because of all
[653]
the equipment and other considerations
[655]
right now i'm making a little over 380
[657]
a month running mining rigs with all
[659]
these numbers there are also costs
[661]
involved in running
[662]
all these things but that will vary
[664]
greatly depending on what you're doing
[666]
where you live and what currencies
[667]
you're interested in lastly there is
[669]
just simply investing in
[670]
cryptocurrencies
[672]
this is what i do the most by far like
[674]
investing in the stock market
[675]
you put money in with the hope that
[677]
later what you put in is worth a lot
[679]
more
[679]
now 90 of the money i put into
[681]
cryptocurrency goes into bitcoin
[683]
in the three years that i have been
[684]
seriously investing my current roi
[687]
is around 60 but i still have a hard
[689]
time advocating anybody put their money
[691]
anywhere else in crypto besides bitcoin
[693]
unless
[694]
they have spent time investing first in
[696]
research and education in the space
[698]
number nine affiliate links there are
[700]
two types of affiliate links that
[702]
i will briefly cover here one is what
[704]
most people talk about which is the
[705]
amazon affiliate program the second is
[707]
affiliate or referral links for other
[709]
services or products
[710]
with amazon affiliate links you can link
[712]
to products and if someone buys that
[714]
product
[715]
via your link you get a little kickback
[717]
you could
[718]
write a blog post reviewing the best
[720]
phone cases and link to each on amazon
[723]
or you can make a youtube video
[724]
reviewing a cool smart
[726]
led light bulb and link that back to
[728]
amazon
[729]
if you do this many times over and work
[731]
hard on your search engine optimization
[733]
then you can eventually start having
[734]
your posts
[735]
or videos surface and people's google or
[738]
youtube results and if some of those
[739]
people
[740]
buy those products you make money
[742]
utilizing links in a similar way you can
[744]
use referral
[745]
or affiliate links for so many other
[748]
companies or products
[749]
not related to amazon an example would
[751]
be something like making a video or
[753]
writing an article reviewing different
[755]
investing apps
[756]
brokerages like m1 finance robinhood
[759]
weeble
[759]
all offer affiliate programs that will
[761]
reward you if you get people to sign up
[764]
or you could make a video talking about
[766]
your favorite skillshare
[768]
classes and then put up your skillshare
[769]
referral link in the description to make
[771]
money
[772]
when people sign up there is an insane
[774]
number of possibilities with this one
[776]
number 10 online courses speaking of
[778]
skillshare
[779]
if you have any skills that you spent
[781]
time learning then there are likely
[783]
people out there who will also want to
[785]
learn those skills
[786]
if you can teach your skills once to the
[788]
camera and record it with high quality
[790]
then you can repeatedly teach people
[791]
that skill and make money with little
[793]
additional work
[794]
my friend paul is a professional dancer
[796]
and twitch streamer
[798]
he has taught in-person dance classes
[799]
for years but just a few months ago he
[801]
decided to try out skillshare with his
[803]
friend and dance partner laura he
[805]
started creating a few classes
[807]
on dance and is already making fifty
[809]
dollars a month now
[810]
fifty dollars a month might not
[812]
initially sound like a lot but consider
[814]
that number can grow
[815]
and also that the work he put in the
[817]
beginning can continue to make that
[819]
money
[820]
month over month with little effort on
[821]
his part not only that if he continues
[824]
to add more classes continues to learn
[825]
the platform that number can grow even
[827]
more it's a pretty exciting idea to me
[829]
and i can see why he's already been
[830]
putting
[831]
time into it i'll link to his classes
[833]
down in the description below number 11
[835]
rental income having a tenant in a
[837]
property that pays you each month is
[839]
something that appeals to me it's
[841]
something we are saving towards to buy
[842]
another property in the not so distant
[844]
future
[845]
if you make enough profit and hire
[846]
people to do the management maintenance
[848]
etc then this one can be completely
[850]
hands off and passive though i will
[852]
likely not go this route and instead opt
[854]
for the
[854]
mostly passive option which is doing
[857]
occasional work myself to maximize
[859]
profits
[859]
another cool idea with real estate
[861]
rental income is you could do a house
[863]
hack
[864]
this is where you buy a house with
[865]
multiple units duplex triplex etc
[868]
or a house with a secondary residence on
[870]
the property
[871]
this lets you buy a house to live in and
[873]
then rent the other part out maybe even
[875]
completely covering your mortgage and
[876]
other costs number 12 and the last one
[879]
air b and b like standard rental income
[882]
you can make money
[883]
with someone staying in a property you
[884]
own we have a 1964
[887]
gm bus that used to be a greyhound bus
[889]
sitting in our backyard
[890]
it's 35 feet long and beautifully
[892]
vintage we currently make
[894]
zero dollars with this i will be making
[896]
a video tour of it soon where i go into
[897]
the cost and plans and then another
[899]
video in the future with an update once
[901]
it's making money now we have made money
[904]
with airbnb
[905]
we have rented out our house during one
[906]
of the big festivals that happens in our
[908]
city we rented our house out for 500
[910]
a night for a total of five nights just
[912]
a total of twenty five hundred dollars
[915]
math this is what awakened us to the
[916]
potential of the platform while the big
[918]
festivals have been canceled for the
[919]
foreseeable future
[921]
there is still a big opportunity to make
[923]
money on airbnb
[924]
instead of traveling internationally
[926]
this year people are looking for
[927]
staycations and they might be more
[929]
likely to book a home
[930]
or other space away from other people
[932]
than stay in a hotel okay
[933]
if you made it to the end
[935]
congratulations that was a lot of
[937]
information
[937]
i hope you enjoyed this list of what i
[939]
think are realistic passive income
[941]
sources hopefully you will feel inspired
[943]
to do some of these yourself
[944]
let me know in the comments what passive
[947]
income you want to work towards or
[948]
if you are already making passive income
[951]
let me know what it is
[952]
how it's going i'd love to hear from you
[954]
i don't care who you are
[956]
where you're from what you did as long
[958]
as you love me
[959]
see you later
