Why Is Upstart Stock Down And Should You Be Buying? | UPST Stock News - YouTube

Channel: Newborn Investor

[0]
hello everyone newborn investor here and
[2]
welcome to another video
[4]
fintech startup upstart had a very
[6]
successful ipo with stock price
[8]
soaring over 500 from an ipo price of 20
[13]
what goes up must come down and upstart
[16]
was no different
[17]
the stock is going through a pullback
[18]
from its all-time highs bottoming around
[21]
a hundred and ten dollars so will the
[23]
stock continue to drop or is it going to
[25]
bounce from here
[26]
in today's video we are gonna talk about
[28]
it and many more so make sure to stick
[30]
around as we're starting
[31]
right now
[35]
upstart uses artificial intelligence to
[37]
make credit lending decisions
[39]
a company offers an ai powered platform
[42]
through which customers are connected to
[43]
upstart's banking partners
[45]
the company makes money in the form of
[47]
fees from banks for facilitating and
[49]
servicing
[50]
loans the highly automated digital
[53]
platform
[53]
helps the company stand out from
[55]
competition by finding quality borrowers
[58]
everything was going well for upstart
[60]
until lately the stock
[62]
took a nose dive dropping around 40
[64]
percent
[65]
from all-time highs so what exactly led
[67]
to the drop
[68]
we will get to it in a minute but before
[70]
that if you like the video and
[72]
find it valuable please make sure to hit
[74]
the like and subscribe button i really
[75]
appreciate your support as it keeps me
[77]
motivated to put in the long hours for
[79]
making these videos
[80]
all right let's move on upstart priced
[84]
its ipo around 20
[86]
per share offering around 11 million
[88]
shares the stock
[89]
opened to trading and was on a ride with
[91]
stock price hitting a high of 190
[94]
in a few weeks realizing the opportunity
[97]
the company pushed a secondary offering
[99]
aiming to sell another 2 million shares
[101]
the secondary offering was well timed
[103]
and the proceeds from the offering
[105]
exceeded 250 million dollars which was
[108]
more than double the proceeds from
[110]
primary offering this couple with
[112]
inflated market cap
[113]
built a massive selling pressure causing
[115]
the stock price to drop
[118]
another reason for the drop was
[119]
upstart's lockup expiration in june
[122]
the stock was ridiculously priced
[124]
tempting insiders to dump their shares
[126]
during that time upstart was trading
[128]
around 20 times sales multiple
[130]
daily trading volume increased manifold
[132]
with 30 day average trading volume
[134]
topping 5 million shares and early
[136]
investors
[137]
saw it as an opportunity to realize
[140]
profits and that's exactly what happened
[143]
there is no denying the fact that there
[145]
is a strong disconnect between upstart's
[147]
fundamentals and the stock price
[149]
management failed to discuss the future
[151]
growth potential
[152]
of the business in the last earnings
[154]
call growth rate
[156]
has seen a decline and is forecasted to
[158]
stall between 20
[159]
to 30 percent upstart currently trades
[162]
at over 20 times sales forecast for 2021
[165]
while 2023 revenue forecast is only at
[168]
870 million dollars
[170]
to find opportunities for growth upstart
[172]
recently purchased
[173]
prodigy software to expand further into
[176]
auto loans
[177]
this purchase expands its loan market by
[179]
nearly seven times
[181]
however i'm not convinced to jump in
[183]
considering the extremely high
[185]
valuation i feel the fintech market is
[189]
getting way
[190]
overcrowded a lot of players have gone
[192]
public with almost
[194]
everyone having a successful ipo a firm
[197]
lending club green sky and so far to
[199]
name a few
[200]
lending club seems to be much like
[202]
upstart offering a unique
[204]
landing marketplace to weather the storm
[207]
upstart has to offer competitive pricing
[209]
for its loans which in turn will lead to
[211]
increasing
[212]
cost and decreasing revenues so what's
[214]
my take on upstart
[216]
upstart undoubtedly is a promising
[218]
fintech with the direct to consumer
[220]
lending platform
[221]
making the loan process more transparent
[223]
and modern
[224]
however my concern is valuation
[227]
personally i'll wait for a better price
[229]
and if that does not happen
[230]
i'll move on to the next one now i would
[233]
love to hear from you guys
