Inventory Obsolete Stock - Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central - YouTube

[0]
obsolete stock that isn't ready to be
[2]
written off here needs to be managed
[4]
within your system
[5]
here's my take on a way that you can do
[7]
it in business central
[9]
in your chart of accounts let's start
[10]
there
[13]
in your inventory section
[17]
set up a gl account in my case i've set
[20]
it up as 1306 for inventory obsolete you
[23]
want it in the same area as all of your
[25]
inventory balance sheet accounts this
[27]
obsolete stock is still in your
[30]
inventory it's still sitting there it's
[31]
still got a value but it's just items
[34]
that you're not selling anymore
[36]
and you want to track them
[39]
in your locations
[41]
for
[42]
inventory set up a new location called
[45]
obsolete i haven't put any
[48]
other information except for a code you
[50]
can add additional information as you
[51]
wish
[54]
in inventory posting
[57]
up
[62]
you then need to
[64]
for the location code of obsolete and
[66]
for all of your existing inventory
[68]
posting groups you don't need any new
[69]
ones
[71]
set the inventory account to be the one
[73]
you have just set up the 1306
[76]
the other accounts probably don't matter
[78]
so much you kind of still want them
[80]
going the same way
[82]
if you do happen to sell any of these
[83]
items or write them off from your
[85]
obsolete location
[88]
you then also want to set up a stock
[90]
keeping unit
[93]
so if we go to create stock keeping
[95]
units
[96]
we're going to create per location i'm
[98]
actually just going to do it for the one
[100]
item that i'm going to use for this
[102]
example
[103]
but you could do it across the board and
[105]
that would update anything
[108]
that you hadn't already set up in the
[110]
stock keeping area
[112]
so i'm just going to
[117]
hit ok
[120]
so now if i go to my items
[125]
and have a look at this item that i've
[127]
got i've got 458 in inventory if i have
[130]
a look at my related
[132]
stock keeping units
[134]
we can see the different sites that i've
[136]
got quantities at and you can see i
[138]
transferred 10 into my obsolete site
[141]
previously
[143]
so i'm going to take
[145]
this 70 that i've got here in location
[149]
200 and move it to obsolete
[153]
the way you do that is you use an item
[155]
reclassification journal
[161]
item reclassification journals are what
[163]
you would use to
[166]
move
[167]
goods from one location to another
[169]
without having to use a transfer
[172]
where you might actually want to recode
[175]
things so you can see out here i've got
[177]
old department code new department code
[179]
so different ways that you might want to
[182]
reclassify the item
[185]
so i just need to put my item number
[190]
and i'm going to take it from 200 and i
[193]
want it to go into obsolete
[196]
oh can't spell
[200]
and i was going to move 70.
[203]
i don't need to put dollar values or
[205]
anything it's only quantities and
[207]
locations all of the values come from
[209]
what's already posted
[211]
and i'm going to post that
[218]
okay so if we go back to our stock
[220]
keeping units
[223]
we have stock keeping
[225]
we can now see i've got 80 in my
[226]
obsolete location
[230]
if we go back to my chart of accounts we
[233]
can now see i've got a balance of 6 000
[235]
sitting in my obsolete location
[237]
obsolete gl account
[240]
and if i pick up any one of these i can
[243]
then
[246]
find my entries
[248]
and see what this is relating to so
[251]
we've got the
[252]
gl entry let's have a look at the
[255]
nine item ledger entries and it's
[257]
immediately picked up the different
[260]
lots that i had sitting in the location
[261]
of 200 and it's put it in the reason for
[264]
the different entries will be there were
[266]
different prices associated with
[269]
the 70 items so it's pulled each of the
[271]
individual cost layers out and then
[273]
bulked that together as a as one entry
[276]
and obsolete
[278]
by doing it this way what it does mean
[280]
is if you look at something like your
[282]
inventory
[283]
your item
[285]
valuation report so let's just go back
[286]
to our items
[292]
and let's have a look at reports
[294]
inventory
[296]
item inventory valuation
[300]
if i put that just
[302]
let's go
[304]
for the previous year
[307]
and i will
[309]
i want to filter it
[311]
by my location
[314]
of obsolete
[324]
then you can see i've got the items that
[326]
make up the value and can tie that then
[329]
into my chart of accounts
[331]
so that's my thoughts on how to account
[334]
for your obsolete stock
