Kennedy: 'I am not responsible' to pay your student loan debt - YouTube

Channel: Fox Business

[1]
the biden administration is ending
[3]
student loan relief and the whole system
[5]
kicks back up in about six weeks of
[7]
course progressives are apoplectic
[9]
because they feel president biden should
[11]
wave his grandfatherly magic walking
[15]
stick and cancel all student debt which
[17]
would immediately overburden taxpayers
[20]
who won't enjoy the extra cash or the
[22]
fancy degree that comes with it nearly
[25]
60 percent of americans do not
[27]
hold college degrees but despite their
[29]
lack of education they will be on the
[31]
hook for free college for all the fancy
[33]
lads on the liberal arts express
[36]
so people who will ultimately be richer
[38]
than you are stealing your money
[41]
to pay for their bad choices got it who
[43]
loves free college and student loan
[45]
forgiveness
[46]
progressives colleges have long been
[49]
propaganda factories and while do-gooder
[51]
lefties want free school
[53]
they despise free speech isn't that fun
[56]
42 million people have some form of
[58]
federal student loan debt including 36
[60]
million with direct loans by themselves
[63]
at up to 1.35 trillion dollars room
[67]
board tuition and fees will run you a
[69]
little over 50k a year at a private
[71]
school the public group will set you
[72]
back 22k here most people can't afford
[75]
rising tuition that supports far beefier
[78]
administrations than the actual
[80]
professors so they take out loans 92 of
[84]
those loans are held by uncle sam the
[86]
government is printing free money to
[88]
colleges that have zero incentive to
[90]
manage costs or encourage
[92]
measures lending to fruitful jobs so
[95]
it's no surprise costs are going in the
[97]
wrong direction
[98]
students have taken notice many of whom
[100]
have decided to work and forgo a
[103]
traditional college experience right
[104]
after high school college enrollment is
[107]
down 6.5 percent since 2019 and it has
[110]
dropped 14.1 percent at community
[113]
colleges which normally see an influx
[116]
during financial hardships students and
[118]
their parents who see what's going on in
[120]
these pink obastians are giving more
[123]
thought to delaying college or instead
[125]
turning to trade schools that offer
[127]
little debt and higher starting salaries
[130]
and sexy calluses yeah pipefitters
[133]
society should never be on the hook for
[135]
your bad decisions and it is not your
[137]
right to have a debt-free experience
[140]
steeping in the toxic t of progressivism
[143]
i sure as hell am not obligated to
[145]
indulge your academic whims in the form
[148]
of high tax theft so if it's that
[150]
important you matriculate be a
[152]
responsible bubble dweller and do a
[154]
solid cost benefit analysis
[156]
before you sign on the dotted line and
[159]
agree to that student loan and that's
[161]
the memo
[163]
and of course aoc and the squad have
[165]
been squawking about this topic since
[167]
the dawn of time here they are making
[170]
their case for debt cancellation earlier
[172]
this month roll it boys
[174]
i have
[175]
over seventeen thousand dollars in
[177]
student loan debt we have a moral
[179]
obligation an economic obligation a
[182]
political obligation to cancel student
[186]
loan debt i worked full time
[188]
monday through friday and took weekend
[190]
classes to get my law degree and still
[193]
close to two hundred thousand dollars in
[195]
debt
[200]
that's all i hear literally a moral
[202]
obligation that is not within the
[204]
purview of the federal government my
[206]
lovelies i am not responsible to pay
[209]
your debt the party panel is back jason
[212]
meister dave smith and kelly hyman
[215]
jason i think this is a bit of good news
[216]
from the bite administration good for
[218]
them
[220]
it sure is and i couldn't agree more
[222]
with your memo
[224]
if you borrowed money to become a
[226]
neo-marxist who has a gender studies and
[228]
sociology degree that's on you
[231]
uh and also more importantly if you're
[234]
flabbergasted surprised shocked
[236]
astounded that joe biden isn't going to
[239]
relieve you of your student loan debt
[240]
and actually believe that just like you
[242]
believed he was going to shut down the
[244]
virus
[245]
then you haven't been paying attention
[246]
to joe biden's 50-year career in
[249]
politics where the only break he's ever
[251]
given was to his son hunter and his
[254]
political donors so now you go get a
[256]
real job with your gender studies degree
[259]
and good luck with that because the your
[262]
president just put a wrecking ball into
[264]
the economy
[266]
dave are we obligated to
[268]
pay for college as a society
[271]
no of course not i mean look i i agree
[274]
with all of you guys and it's insane the
[276]
idea that we'd be obligated to pay like
[278]
the person who's not privileged enough
[280]
to go to college is obligated to go get
[283]
a job and then pay his taxes to pay for
[285]
the privileged person who went to
[287]
college so i agree with all of that i'll
[289]
also say that what's what's frustrating
[291]
kennedy and i'm sure you feel my
[292]
frustration on this it's like only
[294]
libertarians understand anything about
[296]
economics so we we're the only ones who
[299]
even understand like what a price is so
[301]
when someone says something like they go
[303]
well look i became a lawyer and i still
[305]
have 200 grand of unpaid debt that i
[308]
can't pay back it's like well that is
[310]
information and the information is that
[314]
that cost was not worth it
[316]
that's if if you're not making enough
[319]
money to pay that back then you spent
[321]
something you shouldn't have but i will
[324]
say this
[325]
it is not of course we shouldn't forgive
[327]
student loan debts but it's not as if
[329]
this has not been an evil scheme from
[332]
the very beginning where
[335]
as you pointed out there's no incentives
[337]
for college to lower the prices but
[338]
let's be even more blunt the reason
[341]
college is so expensive is because the
[343]
government got in the business of
[344]
guaranteeing loans for for college and
[348]
then just started giving out the loans
[349]
all together and this you would have
[351]
drastic and price inflation in any
[353]
industry if loans were guaranteed to buy
[356]
that product we've uh created a culture
[359]
where we encourage every kid even like c
[361]
minus students that they have to go
[363]
spend four years after high school
[366]
drinking beer and pretending to read
[369]
it's this is insane and yeah we've
[371]
trapped a lot of kids in this who now
[373]
are working at starbucks living at home
[375]
and have six figures of debt and it is
[377]
pretty messed up the situation that the
[379]
entire system has put them in now it's
[381]
not on some blue-collar worker to bail
[383]
them out however we could acknowledge
[386]
that this was pretty this was wrong this
[389]
whole says the idea that we encourage
[391]
super smart people should go to college
[392]
and read books for four years after high
[394]
school the vast majority of the rest of
[397]
us should go figure out how we can
[399]
contribute to our fellow man kelly your
[401]
response
[403]
i think it's important for everyone to
[405]
have an opportunity to get education
[408]
whether it's at trade schools or grad
[410]
schools i came out of school with six
[414]
figures in in debt and so i understand
[416]
that and it's very difficult having that
[419]
amount of debt but i think it's a
[420]
personal decision on what's best for you
[423]
what you want whether as you said to go
[424]
to trade school you want to go to grad
[426]
school or not go to school at all it's
[428]
your personal decision and absolutely
[431]
people should be held accountable if
[432]
they have the student's debt to to pay
[434]
that but there is also options as well
[437]
to consolidate your student loans and
[439]
have one payment or it's based on your
[441]
salary as well there's always options as
[443]
well but i think it's important that
[444]
people have access to whatever
[446]
educations that they need and
[448]
potentially there's plenty of access
[450]
there's plenty access there are 3 000
[453]
uh
[455]
colleges and universities in this
[456]
country and and people can partake in a
[459]
number of them people can also read on
[461]
their own people can also uh look at
[464]
courses on youtube people can do all
[467]
sorts of things in order to get the same
[470]
information that is being taught in
[471]
college with no debt at all didn't you
[473]
see goodwill hunting how about them
[475]
apples
