Andrade Plans REVEALED! Huge Keith Lee WWE Backstage Update! | WrestleTalk News - YouTube

Channel: WrestleTalk

[0]
As I mentioned in yesterday’s WrestleTalk News, there has been a lot of chat about Andrade
[7]
in the wrestling world as of late.
[9]
It was reported that the former NXT Champion asked for his release a couple of weeks ago,
[14]
which the man himself confirmed on Twitter.
[16]
And while many felt that WWE would “Brodie Lee” this situation - i.e. keep Andrade
[21]
under contract until it expired so they couldn’t go to the competition - he was surprisingly
[27]
released from WWE shortly after Fastlane went off the air this past Sunday.
[32]
Since then, Dave Meltzer reported via Wrestling Observer Radio that Andrade was working without
[37]
the traditional 90-day non compete clause, which means he could show up at any wrestling
[42]
promotion as of right now.
[44]
However current QuizzleMania Champion and all-round sweary bloke Sean Ross Sapp noted
[49]
on his Fightful podcast with Denise Salcedo that he hadn’t heard the same information,
[55]
and that Andrade *did* have a 90-day non compete.
[58]
He didn’t say Meltzer’s report was wrong, just that there is a lot of conflicting information
[63]
out there on the situation.
[65]
What is perhaps more clear, though, is what Andrade will be going as in his post-WWE life.
[70]
Prior to requesting his WWE release, Andrade applied for the trademarks “El Idalo”
[74]
and “La Sombra”, the latter of which was his previous in-ring name in promotions like
[79]
CMLL, and Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that, “it does seem like his
[84]
goal is to use that name”.
[86]
And now Andrade has posted on Twitter an image from those days, apparently teasing a return
[92]
of La Sombra, and maybe even a return to CMLL.
[95]
What would you like to see Andrade or La Sombra do next?
[99]
Head back to CMLL, wait until he can go to New Japan and reunite with Tetsuya Naito?
[104]
Or maybe even head to All Elite Wrestling?
[107]
Let me know in the comments down below, as I’ll be replying to people FROM MY DESK
[110]
WHERE I WORK STILL FROM HOME I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S BEEN OVER A YEAR NOW.
[115]
Andrade had been missing from WWE screens since before the Draft last October, and someone
[120]
else who’s been off TV for a while is WrestleTalk’s favourite boy Keith Lee, who was originally
[126]
supposed to be challenging Bobby Lashley for the United States Championship at Elimination
[130]
Chamber with Matt Riddle, but was quietly pulled from the match before the PPV.
[135]
Instead there was a match to crown his replacement, and Matt Riddle picked up the win and the
[139]
belt.
[140]
Lee hasn’t even been mentioned since then, which is bizarre as he came into the main
[146]
roster of WWE with so much pomp and circumstance.
[150]
While fans were critical of WWE’s choices to put him in a vest, change his music, and
[156]
then send him back to the Performance Centre to “learn how to work”, he did beat Randy
[161]
Orton clean on his PPV debut and seemed to be floating around the feud between Drew McIntyre
[166]
and Sheamus when Drew was still champion.
[169]
The speculation was that Lee was injured, which is why he was pulled from the Chamber
[174]
match, but according to Ringside News - so do take this with a pinch of salt - there
[180]
may be something more to it.
[182]
They posted yesterday that they’d asked about Keith Lee disappearing from TV and were
[186]
told that he’s not even been at the Thunderdome as of late for television tapings.
[192]
Speaking of disappearing, and Mr. Davis is still off this week to prepare for our Hair
[197]
vs. Points match at WrestleJamia.
[199]
And I am still on the hunt for the son of a botch that blew him

[203]
up.
[204]
So let’s go to the next suspect
 was it you?
[212]
Damn, thought I had that one.
[217]
Anyway, Keith Lee isn’t the only one who has disappeared from TV as of late.
[223]
Aleister Black has been missing from TV since last October.
[227]
He turned heel and feuded with Kevin Owens for a brief spell, was drafted to SmackDown
[232]
and then that was it.
[234]
It has previously been reported that Black was a favourite of Paul Heyman, much like
[239]
Angel Garza, Andrade and Buddy Murphy, and once Heyman lost his creative power on Raw
[244]
that spelled the end of pushes for those lads.
[247]
It’s also been reported that Black - like Keith Lee - is on the list of wrestlers that
[252]
Vince McMahon just “doesn’t get” which is why they’re not featured on TV.
[258]
There was also some speculation that his vanishing from TV coincided with his real-life wife
[263]
Thea Trinidad’s leaving WWE, but that hasn’t been confirmed.
[267]
However according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, there’s more to Black’s
[272]
disappearance than just a lack of McMahon approval or Trinidad’s departure, but because
[277]
he’s dealing with “minor injuries and stuff”.
[280]
Just “stuff, eh Dave?
[282]
Nice and vague as per usual.
[285]
The “stuff” that Dave is chatting about could of course be the frustrations that WrestleVotes
[290]
reported back in November, following Black requesting to go back to NXT like Finn Balor
[295]
and Ember Moon did, but had his request denied, who added there was, “Dissension amongst
[301]
the parties involved.”
[302]
In another interesting note from Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer noted that Paul Heyman
[306]
might be possibly working with WWE without a contract.
[311]
Heyman left from TV screens after Brock Lesnar lost at WrestleMania 36 to Drew McIntyre,
[315]
but then returned to be the advocate for Roman Reigns in his new Tribal Chief gimmick.
[320]
However, Meltzer notes that Heyman’s previous contract is either up already, or is up soon
[326]
perhaps as early as May.
[328]
Paul Heyman to AEW confirmed.
[329]
Before we get too excited with “Paul Heyman to AEW confirmed”, Meltzer adds “I can’t
[333]
even imagine him not being signed, he’s with Roman Reigns in the top act, so I just
[339]
would presume that’s a formality.”
[341]
Sadly from the world of NXT, another injury has forced a champion to relinquish their
[346]
title - which is starting to feel horribly frequent on the black and gold brand.
[351]
It was reported last week that Danny Burch separated his shoulder last week during the
[355]
main event tag match where he teamed with Oney Lorcan to take on Finn Balor and Karrion
[359]
Kross, being evacuated from the match leaving Lorcan to finish the match alone.
[363]
NXT General Manager William Regal announced on Twitter yesterday the sad news that Burch
[368]
and Lorcan would have to vacate the NXT Tag Team Championships, adding that he will address
[373]
the state of the titles on tonight’s episode of the show.
[377]
And in a very unusual non-caps lock filled tweet, Oney Lorcan demanded a match with Kross
[382]
to avenge his fallen tag partner which was later confirmed.
[386]
Speaking of confirming, I’m about to confirm who blew... up Mr. Davis.
[393]
Was it you, you son of a botch?
[397]
Dammit.
[400]
Really thought I had that one, there.
[403]
Anyway, that’s not the only NXT news.
[409]
The Wednesday Night War of AEW vs. NXT could be coming to an end next month after WrestleMania,
[417]
which means Bryan Alvarez won’t have to deal with idiots anymore in his Twitter mentions
[421]
for simply posting the viewing figures for both shows.
[424]
The news first came about a few weeks ago when Mat Men Podcast posted on Twitter that
[429]
they’d heard NXT was moving to Tuesday nights, which was later corroborated by the likes
[433]
of Alvarez and Meltzer, with the latter saying it wasn’t to do with All Elite Wrestling
[439]
and rather the NHL and their Wednesday night games airing on USA Network.
[444]
However, nothing was officially confirmed by WWE.
[448]
And, really, nothing has still been confirmed by WWE.
[452]
But according to PWInsider, WWE’s internal production schedule has NXT listed as a Tuesday
[459]
night production following WrestleMania, which means the first episode of the new era will
[464]
air on Tuesday the 13th of April, the day after Monday Night Raw.
[469]
From a personal standpoint, this feels like the right move.
[472]
We’ve seen in the past when NXT and AEW air on separate nights that they both prosper,
[477]
so this can only be a good thing.
[480]
Way back in 2019, the report was that NXT was moved from the WWE Network to USA Network,
[486]
not to grow the brand, but to eat into AEW’s viewership.
[491]
And I think you can argue that was successful.
[493]
But it also ate into NXT’s audience too, and the brand hasn’t been as hot as it was
[499]
pre-USA Network.
[500]
And
could it mean the return of NXT reviews?
[504]
Only time will tell.
[506]
You’ll just have to ask Oli.
[508]
He’s on Twitter at Oli Davis.
[511]
Go and ask him on there.
[513]
I mean he won’t check, but it’s a bit funny.
[517]
Speaking of ratings!
[518]
Despite coming off the back of Fastlane and the debut of Kentucky Fried Fiend, Raw was
[523]
slightly down in its viewership this week, pulling in 1.82 million - down from the 1.84
[529]
last week.
[530]
Interestingly, though, the all-important 18-49 demo actually climbed slightly through the
[535]
show, which means the draw of Randy Orton summoning The Fiend in the main event did
[540]
bring in some interest from viewers.
[543]
And before I throw over to Tempest for his unnamed segment, I’ve got one more suspect
[547]
to call today about who blew
 up Mr. Davis.
[551]
Was it you, you son of a botch?
[555]
Oh yeah.
[556]
Whoops.
[557]
Yeah, sorry, bye.
[559]
Bye.
[560]
Bye bye bye.
[562]
Anyhoo, here’s Tempest T. Wrestler
[596]

[610]
to reveal the name of his new segment.
[641]
