Channel: Delaware ShoutOut

[0]
linkedin's commercial use limit is a
[1]
nightmare and it hasn't happened to you
[3]
yet
[3]
it might you're minding your own
[5]
business doing lots of searches on
[6]
linkedin maybe to find new sales leads
[8]
and then boom linkedin says we're sorry
[11]
you search too much
[12]
and now we're just going to show you
[14]
three search results instead of hundreds
[15]
of search results for
[17]
the rest of the calendar month unless
[19]
you buy the premium plan
[20]
good luck and you're like what how do
[23]
you get around the commercial use limit
[25]
without having to buy premium
[26]
in this video i'm going to briefly
[27]
describe what counts towards the limit
[28]
and what doesn't count towards it
[30]
because that's important and then i'm
[31]
going to give you
[32]
different hacks yes different hacks
[34]
because don't you deserve a variety of
[35]
hacks
[36]
and stick till the end for a power tip
[37]
that'll really help you leverage this
[39]
network that you're building on linkedin
[40]
it starts right now
[45]
hey i'm brooke miles i'm a social media
[48]
strategist in delaware and no matter
[49]
where you live
[50]
if you are a small business owner or
[52]
entrepreneur or marketer
[53]
i'm here to give you practical
[55]
strategies so you can create a social
[56]
media program that gives you results
[58]
and that you can be proud of now let's
[60]
talk about this commercial use limit
[61]
linkedin won't tell you exactly what
[63]
this limit is
[64]
which is infuriating but it will tell
[66]
you that it's based on how many
[68]
searches you run and then how many
[70]
profiles you open
[71]
especially profiles of people you're not
[73]
already connected to here's what
[74]
specifically counts towards the limit
[76]
first of all searches you do on
[77]
linkedin.com and the link to mobile app
[79]
where you're using keywords and filters
[81]
for instance if i'm searching for a
[83]
chemical engineer
[85]
i'll see a bunch of results here this
[86]
would count towards the search if i
[88]
click on filters
[89]
and then maybe narrow down to the
[91]
greater philadelphia area and do other
[92]
filters like that and show the results
[94]
that counts towards the search
[96]
also accounts as if you're browsing
[97]
profiles on a company page
[99]
so let's go to dupont as an example
[102]
and then i browse the employees that
[104]
counts towards the search as well
[106]
so it also counts as if you're on
[107]
someone's profile and then you go to
[108]
people also viewed and start browsing
[110]
people
[111]
through here it's also possible that if
[112]
you're running linkedin searches through
[114]
some third-party apps so these searches
[116]
are happening in the background
[117]
that can also count towards the search
[119]
limit now let's talk about what doesn't
[121]
count towards the limit if you're on
[122]
someone's profile and instead of looking
[124]
at people also viewed
[125]
you go down to people you may know
[127]
browsing that doesn't count
[129]
also if you browse your first degree
[130]
connections if it's through the
[131]
connections page
[132]
so for example if you go to my network
[134]
and then connections
[136]
if you do this that you're totally fine
[138]
also if you type someone's name directly
[139]
in the search bar it doesn't count
[141]
you can also search for as many jobs as
[143]
you want on linkedin they're not going
[144]
to stop you there
[145]
now let's talk about hacks and the first
[147]
one brings google into the equation
[149]
now if you're looking for a particular
[150]
title at a particular company
[152]
but you need to narrow it down this hack
[154]
is really good here's what you do you
[156]
put in quotation mark
[157]
then the title let's do chemical
[159]
engineer space
[161]
dash space then the company end
[163]
quotation mark
[164]
space linkedin okay you got that
[174]
now you've done a search in linkedin but
[176]
not really in linkedin now you can click
[178]
on any one of these profiles
[180]
and find out more this next hack i call
[182]
the right click
[183]
trick that sounds a little obscene i
[185]
don't mean it that way
[186]
this is a pretty good hack that works if
[188]
you're looking for something different
[189]
than maybe just title and company
[191]
and it's going to help you get around
[193]
part of the limit but not all of it but
[195]
it still
[195]
will help you pretend you're just doing
[197]
a regular search again so let's say in
[199]
this case we want to be more specific
[200]
we're looking for
[201]
second-degree connections who are in the
[204]
greater philadelphia area
[206]
who previously worked at merck let's
[208]
quickly show the results
[210]
okay i have 41 results here instead of
[213]
clicking on the particular member
[214]
with a left click go ahead and right
[217]
click and then click on
[218]
open link a new tab and now you'll see
[220]
if you click on here
[222]
you're going into the profile so
[224]
technically you didn't click on their
[225]
profile from the search
[226]
now another way you could do this is
[227]
have a second tab open and you can go
[229]
ahead and type that person's name in
[231]
here
[231]
but that really works better if the
[232]
person has an unusual name but if you
[234]
want to type in a common name you have
[236]
to do it a little differently for
[237]
instance
[238]
my brother-in-law and sister-in-law are
[240]
bill smith and jennifer smith
[241]
so if i want to find bill smith on
[243]
linkedin fake i would type in the new
[245]
castle county
[247]
board of realtors and now i would
[249]
specifically get him
[252]
another cool hack is leveraging topics
[254]
by hashtags
[255]
now i know some of you avoid hashtags
[257]
like the plague and i totally get it you
[258]
don't like hashtags they seem really
[260]
weird
[260]
but trust me this hack is really cool so
[262]
let's say you want to search for people
[264]
who are interested in a particular topic
[265]
maybe because they're in the same
[267]
field let's search for a hashtag related
[269]
to that field so in this case let me put
[271]
in
[272]
chemical engineering with the hashtag
[275]
now you see a post right here and it has
[277]
chemical engineering in it
[278]
click on that now click on chemical
[281]
engineering down here
[282]
and now you'll see all the posts that
[284]
have chemical engineering
[286]
what i'm talking about here is looking
[288]
at the people who are engaging
[289]
with these posts for instance if you
[292]
look at this one right here
[293]
you'll see that there are 31 people who
[295]
liked it and there are nine comments
[297]
let's click on the 31
[298]
and now you can see all the people who
[300]
are responding to that particular post
[302]
then click on their profile and check
[303]
them out this next hack has to do with
[305]
the search url
[306]
and it makes linkedin think you're
[308]
opening up fewer search pages than you
[310]
really
[310]
are so let's do this again we're gonna
[312]
type in chemical engineer that's our
[313]
theme for the day
[314]
now let's say you've gone through this
[316]
page and you look through it and it
[317]
looks fine
[319]
instead of going down here and pressing
[321]
two three
[322]
four five et cetera et cetera which
[324]
again is going to be search page after
[325]
search page after search page
[327]
instead go to the url at the very very
[329]
top
[330]
and you see the all caps letters the
[332]
class in this case it says cluster
[333]
expansion
[334]
but yours might say search it might say
[336]
header go ahead and type this in you're
[338]
going to type in the and sign
[339]
page equals and then whatever page you
[342]
want to go to so if i want to go to page
[343]
two i'll type in two
[345]
and press enter now we're on page two
[349]
now if i want to go to page three i can
[351]
type in three
[352]
and so on
[359]
now for the power tip i know we're
[360]
talking about how to make sure linkedin
[362]
doesn't get in the way of you building
[363]
your network with all these new people
[365]
but remember you have first degree
[367]
connections too
[368]
who are semi warmed up to you in some
[370]
way it's a lot
[372]
easier to get sales and referrals by
[374]
building relationships and gaining trust
[376]
with the people who are already in your
[378]
system
[379]
than to constantly add new ones so
[381]
please keep that in mind
[382]
and please check out this video in the
[384]
top right corner we talk about linkedin
[386]
company pages versus profiles
[388]
and where you should put your efforts to
[390]
really get the most out of linkedin
[392]
because your time is precious
[393]
thanks and see in the next video
