How is tech innovation disrupting the CPG Industry? | Turing.com Industry Insiders #1 - YouTube

Channel: Turing - Spin Up Your Engineering Dream Team

[9]
Hi everyone.
[9]
This is Vaibhav Srivastava.
[11]
I lead Enterprise Sales at Turing.com and I focus on
[14]
CPG and technology customers.
[20]
2020 was actually an inflection point in the CPG industry.
[25]
From all different parameters, if you look at the year
[30]
2020, you know, the CEO or CFO of the organization
[38]
must be having nightmares.
[40]
You had demand side problems.
[44]
You had supply side problems.
[46]
So it's really hard for a CEO to do projections for the market
[53]
or investors, that how much they would end up on the revenue side.
[58]
So 2020 was really the inflection point, but what stood out as one
[64]
of the McKinsey reports pointed out, that more absolute growth
[71]
was achieved by CPG industry in the last year alone than the
[76]
period between 2016 and 2019.
[78]
Now this is incredible, and this tells us that something
[84]
really incredible is happening in the market about the
[88]
technology innovation which came together to service the market.
[98]
New opportunities are getting created by technology
[102]
innovations, right?
[103]
So you have the convergence of artificial intelligence,
[108]
blockchain, IOT, and cloud, to actually provide just-in-time
[114]
experience, a very personalized experience, a very localized
[118]
experience for the end customer.
[121]
So essentially what it means is that if as a CPG retailer or CPG
[127]
organization you are not able to serve different technology
[131]
aspects within your business, you are losing to your competition.
[141]
The challenges could be anywhere from hiring the right
[144]
people to get the technology innovation projects kicked off.
[149]
Now, the way the current industry is set up, it is set up with a
[155]
very globalized set up in terms of the way they do their business.
[161]
So you would have a very globalized supply chain
[164]
for each CPG company.
[168]
But at the time of hiring, they are still very localized.
[172]
It is because of the legal challenges of having to
[177]
do business or having to hire from regions where
[181]
you have a legal presence.
[184]
So essentially what it means is when a CPG company has to
[189]
look out for AI engineers, when they have to look for
[193]
blockchain engineers, they're very constrained to find the
[197]
right talent at the right time.
[199]
Now engineering talent hiring has always been a hard
[203]
problem for the CPG companies.
[205]
They are always under threat from the big techs of the world taking
[211]
all the brightest of the talent.
[213]
So number one, they have the competition
[215]
from the tech industry.
[217]
The second challenge they have is that they are
[220]
very much constrained with the local geography where
[223]
they're hiring talent from.
[225]
And the third is that talent hiring is a very long and
[229]
cumbersome process for them.
[231]
So you're looking at three pronged challenges for the CPG industry
[237]
as where they're going to get the innovation at top speed
[248]
Turing is uniquely positioned to help the CPG customers.
[252]
And let me give you some insights about what Turing
[256]
is actually building.
[257]
Turing has built an Intelligent Cloud of a million plus developers
[263]
who have been pre-vetted on 100+ technology stacks.
[266]
Now, what it means for the customers is — you are not
[269]
actually waiting for several weeks to hire your top engineer and to
[275]
get your project off the ground.
[277]
Now, so many projects haven't seen the light of
[279]
day because they could never find the right resources.
[283]
Do you still want to wait for eight or 10 weeks or 15 weeks
[288]
relying on your service vendor or you're hiring operations
[292]
team to get you the talent?
[294]
Or you would rather want to be working with Turing and getting
[297]
the engineer in the next week.
[300]
So this is the difference we want to bring with the CPG industry.
[307]
One of the interesting stats that stood out in recent studies was
[311]
that 65% of the consumers switched brand loyalty in the last year
[317]
alone because of stock-outs.
[320]
Now stock-outs is a problem that could be solved with
[323]
AI, blockchain, IOT, right?
[327]
And if you don't have the engineers who could help you get
[332]
these projects kicked off on time, the impact is quite incredible to
[337]
the top line of the organization.
[341]
So we at Turing coms as partners to enable you
[344]
to hire talent on demand.
[346]
We enable you to have top quality engineers from all over the world.
[350]
You don't have to be constrained with engineers in a particular
[353]
geography because Turing's Intelligent Vetting Engine
[356]
is designed to be serving any industry all over the world
[362]
from developers available at that particular point of time.
[365]
If you are looking to change the status quo of your hiring,
[369]
if you're looking to change the status quo of the way you go
[373]
about your innovation business.
