And today, I am going to talk about like freeganism

because I want to talk about something meaningful and it's kind

of nice to have like a lunch online together with people like you

and people that are super lonely like me

So anyways, today I am eating this curry rice,
that is made with like leftover curry, it's not

like the people that already like ate the curry,
but it's like a completely new edible package

of curry that the previous tenant's leftover

And also, this thing is also like a raspberry

yogurt made with coconut cream and it's so good
it's like a vegan organic thing

I know this is a bit expensive

but it's like 50% off so that's why
I buy it it's like a food waste thing you know

♪ WHAT IS FREEGANISM ♪

If we think about environmentalism or those kinds
of things, we usually think about like veganism or

vegetarianism or like pescetarianism if that's a word hahahaha

But freeganism is something that I realized that really kind of fits my values

they are vegan or vegetarian if they don't

the food for free, they usually eat those stuff or
consume those stuff that is considered to be like

leftover by our society, like for example, in a
supermarket because of overstocking or really

strict food regulations, they always have to throw
some food that is perfectly fine, that is edible but

passed the expiration day, that they have to throw everything away

and that's like super wasteful

I don't know if that's like a way of
protesting against this kind of food system that

is not really fair, especially farmers are working
so hard every day to grow our food

and there are so many people that are starving every day, don't have water

not even talk about those 50% off food

but while us, are really just pure luck
to born in countries that can provide you know

this kind of basic needs as a human, and we just
throw food like that away

and that's completely crazy

started my food yet so I should be eating

And then, I think the temperature just
changed the quality of the food, even though it

looks fine outside and I think the worst thing
is just that, like I've heard that my mom said that

like in Hong Kong, some supermarket they would rather throw the food away that is like fine

just past the expiration date, and then they put
like bleach on it, it's just insane you know like how

Many people are that like starving and dying
every day and then like

You know they don't even want to help people in need you know

And also, you can also join some neighborhood initiatives that

then you can pick up there at the end of the day

and then for a really cheap price, you don't have
to dumpster dive

The easiest way is just like me,

that cannot be so at the end of the day

♪ CRITICISM ON FREEGANISM ♪

And I think there's also some critique to this
kind of freeganism movement is that some really

strict vegan or vegetarian, they would think that
this is just a way for those like people who

are not like determined enough to actually go for veganism

Yeah, I think the way that I look at it is that

First of all, I think there's like a common
ground for vegetarianism or veganism

and freeganism

like this bunch of people want to do something
that is better for the environment

They just don't buy the idea of how society works right now, especially with our food

I think that the endpoint is the same, you know like we don't actively buy like animal products

that obviously has higher greenhouse gases emission

but the process is just different

and also when you think about that

like the truth is, not everybody can be vegan
or vegetarian

We think about a lot of cultural concerns

So I think sometimes being a flexitarian
or freegan is more realistic and accessible to

more people than being really strictly like vegan
or vegetarian, and then point out other people and

make them feel guilty forever about eating meat

And I think it's good that we accept or learn to

be more open-minded about doing the same thing but in different ways

it's another way to think about that

Here's the most exciting part, cooking my food waste curry with

Eating rice is my hobby just like many
international people think, so of course i'm going

to answer that request, make rice

First, I need to measure how much rice to put into my rice cooker

but not limited to garlic, onion, and tomatoes
