traders on the internet make this a big issue and聽
if they ever listen to anyone talk about moving聽聽
[4]
the stop loss to break even they make it sound聽
like it is the end of the world but is this really聽聽
[10]
something to be really worried about or is moving聽
the stop loss to break even even a bad thing to聽聽
[15]
do in trading now what if i could teach you some聽
unique methods of moving the stop loss to break聽聽
[22]
even that could drastically reduce your chance of聽
incurring a loss and it wouldn't even hurt your聽聽
[28]
trade so sounds good hello and welcome to forex聽
monopoly my name is Daksh and in this video i will聽聽
[34]
tell you everything you need to know about moving聽
the stop loss to break even i will also give you聽聽
[39]
a to-do list and a not to-do list so make sure you聽
watch this video all the way to the end now before聽聽
[45]
i get on to this i just want to touch upon what聽
stop loss is and what break even means so stop聽聽
[51]
loss is a way to manage risk that is whenever a聽
trader gets into a trade they place a buy order or聽聽
[56]
a sell order and a stop-loss order and stop-loss聽
order basically helps us to protect ourselves in聽聽
[63]
case the price does not go in our favor or in our聽
desired direction and we can get out of the trade聽聽
[69]
or the situation with a very minor loss so what聽
is break even now break even is a situation of聽聽
[77]
no profit and no loss so when a trader gets into聽
a trade at a particular level and they square off聽聽
[84]
or close the trade at that particular price or聽
the same price as the entry level then the trade聽聽
[90]
is said to be a break-even one so now that you聽
know what stop-loss and break-even means let us聽聽
[96]
understand what does stop-loss to break even me so聽
it simply means that once you enter a position or聽聽
[103]
once you enter a trade at a particular price level聽
and have your stop loss some steps away from it聽聽
[109]
you shift the stop loss to the entry point聽
when the price moves ahead in your favor聽聽
[114]
for instance let us say or let us suppose that you聽
see a good buy opportunity on gbp usd at let's say聽聽
[121]
this point then you place the stop loss 50 pips聽
below that is at this level and then you enter the聽聽
[128]
trade and eventually the price moves in your favor聽
that is to the upside and then you see this as聽聽
[134]
then you see this as a positive sign and you shift聽
your stop loss to your entry level which will be聽聽
[139]
over here so by doing this you ensure two things聽
the first is that you do not lose anything in the聽聽
[146]
trade even if the price comes back to your level聽
and the second thing is that it also lets you聽聽
[151]
write the trend and increase your profit potential聽
so now that you know what moving the stop loss to聽聽
[157]
break even is and how does it even help you let聽
us now understand how you should move your stop聽聽
[162]
loss to break even and when you should avoid it so聽
you cannot always set the stop loss to break even聽聽
[170]
and if you do you might not be able to profit from聽
the trade and miss out on a good opportunity or on聽聽
[175]
a good trade so here are some situations in which聽
you can move your stop loss to break even and聽聽
[181]
that too successfully so the first situation聽
is when t1 is hit now i always say this聽聽
[188]
whenever you get into a trade and if the trade聽
is in your favor or if the trade is in profit聽聽
[193]
no matter what you always have to get something聽
out of it and therefore try to have a multiple聽聽
[200]
profit targets when you trade what i mean to聽
say is there should be some small ones and then聽聽
[206]
there should be some big ones depending upon聽
the situation and what your trade has for you聽聽
[211]
so your t1 means first profit target so聽
let us take an example to understand this聽聽
[216]
so let us say this was the level that is the聽
support level where you took a buy trade and then聽聽
[222]
when the price was moving up you saw that there聽
are various minor resistance at different points聽聽
[228]
so and your profit potential that is your main聽
target was to was over here so what you decided聽聽
[235]
is you will close a little bit of profit when the聽
price reaches to this minor level and therefore聽聽
[240]
this is your take profit one so what you can do聽
is when the price reaches the first target you聽聽
[246]
can close a little bit of your trade that is you聽
can take a small profit and then you can set the聽聽
[251]
stop loss to break even so by doing this you are聽
also able to get something out of the trade and聽聽
[257]
you are now risk-free and you can ride the trend聽
successfully now the second situation is value聽聽
[262]
area breach now value areas are the areas like聽
this where the price had some sudden movements in聽聽
[268]
the past and the traders believe that something聽
like this could happen again in the future now聽聽
[273]
there will always be value areas on the price聽
charts and if you take a long trade on a breakout聽聽
[278]
of one value area to the upside then there will be聽
another value area above it somewhere above it so聽聽
[285]
this could be the second scenario where you can聽
look to take the risk of removing the stop loss聽聽
[290]
to the break even now again once the price reaches聽
a value area that could have made the price move聽聽
[295]
against you what you can do is you now know that聽
the trade was a good one because it did move in聽聽
[301]
your favor and you could move the stop loss to聽
break even for example let us say you entered a聽聽
[308]
trade over here and then the price moved in your聽
favor but there was a value area above and you聽聽
[314]
didn't know if the area will hold or it will聽
break because you cannot be certain if it is聽聽
[318]
going to hold or break so in this case what you聽
have to do is take some of your profit over here聽聽
[323]
and then if the area is breached by the price聽
only then move the stop loss to break even now聽聽
[329]
the third one is impulse correction impulse now we聽
know that the price does not move in one direction聽聽
[335]
in a straight line it moves in phases and these聽
phases are called as impulse and correction聽聽
[341]
so whenever there is an impulsive move it will聽
always be followed by a correction and after聽聽
[348]
the correction the price could either have the聽
impulse in the direction of the first impulse聽聽
[352]
or in the opposite direction of the first impulse聽
so suppose you took a short trade on usd cad on聽聽
[360]
a breakout and the price moved impulsively down聽
it then corrected a little which was followed by聽聽
[367]
a strong move that is strong in impulsive move聽
in the downward direction you can move stop loss聽聽
[372]
to break even in such situations as you have聽
confirmation that the trade is going exactly聽聽
[378]
how you wanted it to go now this technique聽
might be a little confusing and tricky but聽聽
[383]
when you will practice it it will be worth it okay聽
so now that you know when to move the stop loss to聽聽
[388]
break even let us see when you should avoid moving聽
the stop loss to break even the first scenario is聽聽
[393]
when the price is too close to the entry level聽
now i have seen traders moving the stop loss聽聽
[399]
to break even just when the price moves a little聽
bit in their favor and they just want to rush in聽聽
[406]
so that they can make that rate completely risky聽
now this is the worst thing you could probably聽聽
[411]
do as you are not giving the price the room to聽
breathe and you need to give time to the price聽聽
[416]
to move in your favor and if it doesn't then you聽
should just take the stop loss or you should let聽聽
[422]
the price hit the stop loss and move on like聽
what if you moved your stop loss to break even聽聽
[428]
too early and then the price hit your stop loss聽
and then went in your desired direction trust me聽聽
[435]
it hurts you should never move the stop loss聽
to break even if the price is too close to your聽聽
[440]
entry level there will always be a little risk聽
in trading and no matter how good uh you are at聽聽
[446]
technical analysis you always have to accept and聽
cherish the rest and try to keep it to minimum but聽聽
[451]
don't try to avoid it so the second situation when聽
you should not move the stop loss to peak even聽聽
[456]
is when the price hasn't done anything significant聽
yet the thing is you cannot just enter a trade聽聽
[462]
wait for it to simply move in your preferred聽
direction and then you just move the stop loss聽聽
[467]
to break even doing this might get you away a few聽
times but eventually it will bite you really big聽聽
[474]
what you should be doing is wait for聽
the price to do something significant聽聽
[478]
and you have to act only after you listen to聽
what the market is doing now you could wait聽聽
[484]
for the price to breach a value area that was in聽
the path or you could wait for it to correct a聽聽
[490]
little then resume the prevailing trend and聽
then these may seem like a small things but聽聽
[496]
it goes a long way not many traders do聽
this but that's why not many traders are
