Algarve Best Places To Stay Wintertime / Cheapest Rent - YouTube

Channel: This Is Our Retirement

[0]
We get asked a lot on this channel  about how much does it cost to rent an
[6]
apartment in the wintertime in The Algarve and as  many of you know we only ever go to The Algarve
[14]
in the wintertime to escape the Canadian  cold and snow so what do you have Tina
[22]
- So we have been doing a lot of  research just on how much it does
[26]
cost per month and we are going to show  you and take you to 6 of our favourite
[33]
places in The Algarve - And not only our favourite  but the most affordable places in The Algarve too
[46]
So Tina we've come back to one of our favourite  places it's just absolutely beautiful here this
[52]
was one of the very first resort towns on  The Algarve it's another 4 kilometre beach so
[58]
- Like way down there - This is what the sea front  looks like we're only halfway down it as well
[64]
(yeah) it's lots of apartments lining  it shops cafes so we've walked all the
[69]
way down here Tina looking all the  way back there but pretty flat and
[76]
look at all these apartments here - They're just  amazing isn't it hey, that there's so many places
[82]
to stay here we are right at the end - Nowhere else  to go - Oh no you have to turn round and go back
[143]
- In the background you can start to see Vilamoura  as well so Quarteira and Vilamoura are very much
[152]
twin towns and of course there's one thing  Tina that is just valuable as gold these days
[159]
can you guess - Free wi-fi
[167]
Another beautiful day in The Algarve - Yes it is
[171]
- One of the nice things Tina is when you  come to the western side of Armacao de Pera
[179]
you can find this little piece of land here next  to The Holiday Inn and it's free parking so anyway
[185]
this is starting off from the parking spot next  door to The Holiday Inn and we're gonna walk
[210]
one of the beautiful churches that we pass it's
[215]
just gorgeous isn't it a restaurant right down  the ocean - Isn't it beautiful they've got all
[221]
A Fort (yeah) and there's also a convent attached to  it and then there's the cutest little church
[246]
one of the things that we do like about being  here is it isn't hilly did you notice that -There's a
[253]
huge difference as a place it's very flat - There's  another 4 kilometres of beach that you can walk on
[266]
with the apartments hotels  shops on top of the cliffs
[294]
magnificent and you know what there's  hardly any people on the beach - No I guess
[298]
technically it's still wintertime so there's  a whole lookout point here where you can come
[305]
and see the town in the background  come along and look at the ocean
[325]
- Sardines and potatoes and salad for €8.90  - That sounds pretty inexpensive how long
[332]
is happy hour - This is one of those  extended happy hours Norm it goes from
[339]
9am in the morning to 5 o'clock in the afternoon
[372]
- We're in Portimao - Yes we are - And this is where we  were last time we came down here and we thought
[380]
this is all that was around for Praia da Rocha  or for Portimao and it's a nice little area
[387]
but this is a river that we can see in front of us
[391]
and it's not the ocean it's the  river that goes up to Silves
[431]
Okay Tina so where are we today - We're in Alvor
[436]
Cheers, cheers - Here's to us in Alvor
[440]
just the advertising - It's amazing - Huge isn't  it - I can't believe how many Irish bars there
[449]
are here this is the third one since we've just  had lunch - The oldest church in Alvor
[456]
so this predates the other one The Church Bar  - Another Irish Bar - Beautiful the colours the architecture
[468]
here we are at the church  in Alvor it's nice to be back here again Tina
[501]
this is the resort area of Alvor so  you're out of town just a little while
[507]
you can walk into town from here couldn't  you Tina - Yeah because there's this huge boardwalk
[542]
- Just outside of Lagos in The Algarve (yeah)
[605]
I got my beer cheers just look at the beautiful glass Norm - I know it's beautiful - Now it's kind of funny
[614]
isn't it but the deal will be €1 for yours  and probably €4 for my glass of wine
[621]
- So Tina I think we found some apartments away from the  seafront these these look modern - Yeah these look
[628]
very pretty well there seems to be two one on this  side - Some for holidays and there's some for buying
[635]
(yeah) so what do you think should we buy one and  stay here - Oh I don't know
[641]
- So this is the centre Olhos de Agua - We're noticing aren't we  Norm all the cars are coming down here turning
[648]
around at the bottom coming back up because  there's no parking we learned that last time
[689]
- There saying this restaurant is from the  1960s (wow) this is one of the beautiful
[694]
things about the beaches of The Algarve  and Olhos de Agua in particular is just the
[702]
rock formations that have been eroded  away - Yeah and they're just right there
[707]
on the beach - It's just beautiful seeing  the cliffs in the background the sea
[713]
the sand - It's perfect isn't it - So this gives  an idea of the little town just from the beach
