yo yo i'm ready to invest i have money
[2]
to invest
[3]
can someone tell me where to invest this
[6]
hell yeah that's what i'm talking about
[8]
in this video we're going to be talking
[10]
about investing in
[12]
mp2 it's probably one of the safest and
[14]
most underrated forms of investments
[16]
that's perfect for beginners students or
[19]
anyone looking to diversify their
[21]
portfolio
[22]
the best part you only need 500 vessels
[25]
to start yeah
[31]
what's up friends welcome back to this
[33]
week's video if you're new here what's
[35]
up
[36]
my name is nicole and i make weekly
[37]
videos on personal finance
[39]
investing and sometimes i do things on
[41]
other stuff too
[42]
this has been such a heavily requested
[44]
video you guys have been asking me to
[46]
make a video on bug ebay for such a long
[48]
time
[48]
and i'm hyped to finally be talking
[50]
about it
[51]
i'm expecting that this is going to be
[53]
kind of a long video
[55]
so here's how i want to structure it
[58]
first we're going to talk about the what
[60]
what is pug ebig not this buggy big
[64]
this foggy big yeah the government one
[68]
second we're going to talk about why or
[70]
more specifically
[71]
why should you invest in mp2 like what's
[75]
in it for you what's so good about it
[77]
and third we're going to talk about how
[80]
i always say that action is the most
[82]
important thing
[83]
like you can watch all the videos that
[84]
you want read all the articles you think
[86]
you can
[87]
but at the end of the day if you never
[89]
take action then
[90]
um so yeah we're going to talk about how
[93]
you can start investing in
[95]
big mp2 as well as my own experience in
[98]
how i registered and applied
[100]
and deposited my contributions alright
[103]
so even though i do seem super hyped
[106]
about investing in mp2
[107]
do take note that i'm not saying that
[109]
it's the perfect investment for everyone
[112]
still take the time to assess your own
[114]
financial goals so that you can decide
[116]
for yourself
[117]
whether it's a form of investment that
[119]
makes sense for you
[120]
all right this ain't no financial advice
[122]
i am not a professional financial
[124]
advisor
[125]
i am just a random person on the
[126]
internet who's sharing what she's
[128]
learned so far
[129]
yeah we're all learning together do your
[131]
own research
[132]
if you're interested in learning more
[134]
about managing your money or personal
[136]
finance in general
[137]
you can check out these two videos i
[139]
made before about managing your money
[141]
and how to start investing because you
[144]
know baby steps
[145]
we good all right let's get started
[148]
so let's get down to the juicy details
[151]
what is spaghetti bing
[153]
pagibig is a government-controlled
[155]
corporation that primarily exists
[158]
to provide affordable housing loans to
[160]
filipinos
[161]
so the income that they get from loaning
[163]
out the funds
[164]
they pay it back to their members as
[166]
dividends
[168]
so before you can get started investing
[170]
in mp2
[171]
you need to be a regular buggy big
[173]
member first
[174]
it's probably what you guys are most
[176]
familiar with first and foremost
[178]
all employed filipinos are required by
[180]
law to become a puggy big member
[183]
so if you're employed there's usually a
[184]
monthly deduction on your salary
[186]
that goes to your big contribution it
[189]
pays out
[190]
high dividends per year so your savings
[193]
in this fund has a maturity period of 20
[195]
years
[196]
so after 20 years or at least when you
[199]
retire whichever comes first the money
[201]
goes back to you
[202]
as well as the interest in the dividends
[204]
that you earned during that period
[206]
this law dictates that the minimum
[208]
monthly contribution for filipinos
[210]
is just 100 pesos but you can you can
[212]
you're allowed to
[214]
like deposit more if ever you want to if
[216]
you're employed
[217]
your employer matches the contributions
[219]
that you make
[220]
so let's say you contributed 100 pesos
[223]
your employer is also going to match
[225]
that amount so instant double
[227]
contributions free money yo free
[230]
if ever you're self-employed an ofw or a
[233]
student
[234]
you can still apply for this regular
[235]
savings account at any of the bug ebay
[237]
branches
[238]
or even online if ever there's an
[241]
emergency
[242]
something bad happens you know you can
[244]
actually withdraw your savings
[245]
so i'll flash on the screen the
[247]
instances in which
[249]
you're allowed to withdraw your savings
[251]
in the savings program
[253]
next after the regular savings program
[255]
they have this
[256]
extra savings program which they call
[258]
the mp2
[259]
or the modified bug ebig savings program
[263]
so the bug ebig mp2 savings program is
[265]
by ebig's initiative
[267]
to give their members more opportunities
[269]
to grow their money
[271]
the mp2 savings program earns higher
[273]
dividends than the regular savings
[275]
program
[276]
but it's voluntary you know not everyone
[278]
is required to open one
[280]
unlike the regular savings program that
[282]
has a maturity period of 20 years
[284]
but ebig mp2 accounts only have a
[286]
maturity period of 5 years
[288]
if ever you're wondering how bug ebay
[290]
computes their interest
[291]
this is the formula i found in several
[294]
blog posts
[295]
but what they do they multiply the
[297]
dividend rate by the average monthly
[299]
balance of your account
[300]
so add all of the amounts that you
[303]
deposited for a single year divided by
[305]
12
[306]
then multiply that by the dividend rate
[310]
all right so now that we got those basic
[312]
stuff out of the way let's talk about
[314]
why you should consider investing in mp2
[317]
first it's government ba it's safe
[320]
probably like the safest investment that
[322]
can give you this
[324]
much return while the dividend rates
[327]
like the interest that you receive
[329]
on your investment do vary based on the
[331]
performance of the pug ebig fund like
[333]
the loans and how much people pay back
[335]
you're never going to lose your capital
[337]
with this investment
[339]
the government guarantees that people
[341]
will get it back
[342]
right it's by law second it's tax-free
[346]
you don't got to pay no taxes here yo
[348]
tax-free amino compare it to stocks or
[352]
bonds when you're investing in stocks
[353]
case you get charged
[355]
some transaction fees as well as taxes
[358]
on your buy and sell transactions
[360]
and for bonds there's a withholding tax
[362]
for the interest that you receive
[364]
on your investment next you can start
[367]
with just 500 pesos
[369]
500 pesos yo for the regular savings
[373]
program there's a minimum monthly
[374]
contribution
[375]
but for the mp2 savings program you're
[378]
not required to deposit monthly
[380]
it's up to you how much or how often
[383]
you deposit into the account as long as
[386]
each
[387]
transaction is at least 500 pesos
[390]
500 pesos is so much more attainable for
[393]
a lot of the filipinos out there
[395]
you can get started yo there's also no
[397]
limit so you can deposit one hundred
[399]
thousand five hundred thousand one
[400]
million
[401]
is up to you if you got the big money
[403]
that you want to put in a relatively
[405]
safe investment
[406]
you can do that and i forgot what number
[410]
we're at
[410]
sorry there's no limit to how many mp2
[413]
accounts you can open
[414]
you can open as many mp2 accounts as you
[417]
want and
[418]
you can easily open an mp2 account
[420]
online
[421]
very convenient friends right so i
[424]
wanted to bring this
[425]
up i asked you guys on instagram what
[428]
questions you had about investing in mp2
[430]
and someone brought up the effect of the
[432]
pandemic on the dividends that you're
[434]
receiving from the mp2
[436]
savings program well sadly it's already
[439]
expected that the dividends we're going
[441]
to receive
[441]
for the year 2020 will be lower than
[444]
what we had on 2019-2018
[447]
because of the impact of misronavirus
[450]
a lot of people probably lost their jobs
[452]
and are unable
[453]
to pay back their loans so given that
[457]
the dividend rates are dependent on the
[459]
performance of the fund
[462]
yeah but like that's looking at it with
[464]
the short term perspective
[466]
i prefer to look at it for like the long
[469]
term
[470]
the economy is eventually going to
[472]
recover from this
[473]
crazy madness that's happening and
[476]
people are eventually going to be able
[478]
to pay back their loans once things get
[480]
better
[481]
so if you can hold on and if you're
[484]
willing to accept and wait for that
[487]
then by all means continue investing
[489]
there are
[490]
so many more investments for you to
[492]
invest in
[493]
but this is really like the safest form
[495]
of investment that gives you this much
[497]
return
[499]
like i said investing in pagibig mp2
[502]
is not for everyone it really depends on
[505]
what you're trying to achieve
[506]
what your financial goals are so yeah
[509]
it's really important to
[510]
evaluate what are you actually saving
[512]
for why are you
[513]
investing for what purpose and then base
[516]
your decisions off of that
[518]
you might argue that eh i don't want to
[520]
invest in mp2 because
[522]
in the stock market there's higher gain
[524]
potential and stuff like that
[526]
while it's definitely true that there is
[528]
so much more potential
[529]
gain in the stock market do note that
[532]
there's higher risk involved with that
[534]
your capital is not guaranteed as
[536]
opposed to investing in mp2
[538]
where your capital is guaranteed by the
[540]
government
[541]
and there's a lot less volatility if
[544]
you're someone who doesn't want to ride
[545]
the volatility of the stock market and
[548]
you just want
[548]
some fixed income sources like the mp2
[552]
that you just sit back
[553]
and wait for your dividends yeah it's a
[556]
good option for you
[559]
right so let's say you want to invest in
[561]
mp2
[562]
what do you do right so now that we know
[565]
what
[565]
ebig is what mp2 is and reasons why you
[568]
should invest
[569]
action is always the most important
[571]
thing here's how you can get started
[573]
first and foremost before you're even
[576]
eligible to open an mp3 savings account
[578]
you first need to be an active puggy big
[581]
member
[582]
what that means is that you should be a
[584]
registered
[585]
ebig member who has made at least one
[587]
contribution
[588]
in the last six months if you're already
[591]
registered
[592]
then good job you can open your mp2
[594]
savings account now
[595]
but let's say you're a student like me
[598]
or like you're not a [聽__聽] big member yet
[600]
you can easily register by either going
[603]
to a physical branch
[605]
or even more convenient you can just
[607]
apply
[608]
to become a bug ebig member online so
[610]
like i followed this guide it's by
[612]
filipino
[614]
it's a blog and it's a very detailed
[616]
comprehensive guide
[619]
and yeah i'm not going to tell you guys
[621]
step by step on what to do you can just
[623]
check out the article i'll link it down
[625]
below
[625]
for you guys who are students good news
[628]
you don't need no ids to become a buggy
[630]
big member
[631]
so the only requirement for students is
[634]
that you're 18 years old and you're able
[636]
to pay the minimum monthly contribution
[638]
of 100 pesos
[640]
that's it very simple but just to share
[644]
my experience with
[645]
how i applied for a bug ebig membership
[647]
as well as opening an mp2 account
[650]
so i followed the steps in the blog post
[652]
i applied to become a bug ebig member
[655]
online there's like an online portal for
[658]
you to sign up at
[659]
so i did the whole application process
[662]
and then i had to send the code with my
[663]
phone number right your rtn and then i
[666]
waited to receive
[667]
my membership id so they're going to
[670]
text it to you
[671]
it took about a week or so until i
[673]
received my mid
[674]
my membership id as soon as i received
[677]
my membership id
[678]
i immediately deposited my first
[680]
contribution through gcash
[682]
and after i did that i immediately
[685]
opened an mp2 account on the same day
[688]
but the only thing you need to be
[689]
eligible for an mp2 account is to at
[691]
least have
[692]
one contribution in the last six months
[694]
and given that i contributed at least
[696]
once now
[697]
technically i was already an active
[699]
puggy big member
[700]
that's it i didn't go to the branch now
[703]
because of the situation we're at i
[704]
i wouldn't risk it either i emailed
[707]
their customer service naman and they
[709]
said that my contributions
[711]
were able to be reflected in my account
[713]
so i took it as a signal
[715]
we're good to go so i personally do
[717]
recommend investing in the
[719]
big mp2 savings program because where
[721]
else will you find
[722]
a safe form of investment gives you that
[724]
much of a return
[726]
and it's also a way for you to force the
[729]
discipline
[730]
with the investing because the most
[732]
important skill for you to master
[735]
when you're investing or like managing
[737]
your personal finance
[738]
is the ability to delay instant
[741]
gratification
[742]
you're saving for the future you're
[744]
doing your future self a
[746]
favor so that the future you five ten
[749]
years down the line
[750]
has a lot of money to enjoy and given
[753]
that when you're opening an mp2 account
[755]
it's going to be locked up for five
[756]
years yeah
[758]
first discipline yo just take note that
[761]
so whenever you open an mp2 savings
[763]
account you have two
[764]
options you can either open and receive
[768]
annual payment so you receive the
[770]
payment of your dividends every year
[772]
or you can lock it up for that five
[774]
years and only withdraw the dividends
[776]
and your
[777]
investment at the end of five years i
[780]
didn't choose the annual dividend payout
[783]
because i want my investments to just
[785]
compound compound compound until it gets
[787]
bigger
[788]
if you guys remember i mentioned in my
[790]
how to start investing video
[792]
the most powerful concept in personal
[794]
finance and investing
[796]
is the magic of compounding it's not
[799]
only your capital that's growing
[801]
it's your capital plus interest and
[803]
interest that keeps working
[805]
for you the featured comment for this
[807]
