[6]
Namaskar, my name is Mukul, and welcome to Asset Yogi.
[9]
Guys we discussed about D-mat account in our previous video.
[12]
If we want to invest in shares then it's very important to open a D-mat and trading account
[17]
We also discussed the difference between D-mat and trading account in that video
[22]
If you haven't watched that video
[23]
then do watch it you'll get the link in the description
[26]
We also discussed in that video
[28]
about where should we open a D-mat account and what all parameters to check.
[32]
After watching that video, many people had this query
[35]
And asked me to make a step-by-step process on how to open an account in Zerodha.
[39]
Zerodha is a discount broker where brokerage charge is less
[42]
And I can understand that while opening the D-mat account for the first time,
[45]
we're afraid of doing any mistake, will the money be safe there
[50]
I also felt the same while opening my D-mat account for the first time 11-12 years back
[55]
But in this video, we'll see the whole process step by step
[58]
about how to open an account in Zerodha.
[61]
We'll see both online as well as offline processes in this video.
[66]
In offline account, you have to print all the forms
[70]
and courier them to the Zerodha office.
[72]
We'll also see where to courier it
[74]
Now if we talk about the online account, the process is changed a bit.
[78]
Now the linking of Aadhaar is through Digilocker.
[81]
Digilocker is a government website where your Aadhaar number is reflected
[85]
That's an easy process and we'll talk about it during this video
[89]
It hardly takes 1 minute to sign in to Digilocker.
[92]
I'll show you the whole process live and we're going to open an actual account
[96]
Also, we'll discuss all the possible problems which can occur during this process
[100]
For opening an account in Zerodha, prepare 2-3 things in advance.
[104]
Keep a cancelled cheque or latest bank statement
[107]
with the clearly mentioned account number, MICR, and IFSC code.
[113]
You have to submit this as bank proof.
[115]
The bank account which you want to attach with your D-mat account,
[118]
you can keep a scanned copy of its cancelled cheque or latest bank statement.
[123]
Besides this, if you want to trade in Future & options or commodities,
[127]
Then you have to submit income proof.
[129]
In that, either you can give last 6 months bank statement
[133]
or salary slip which should be signed and stamped by your employer
[137]
or you can submit the acknowledgement of the latest income tax returns
[142]
you can also submit form 16 given by your employer.
[146]
All these acceptable documents are also displayed on your screen.
[150]
Once you prepared all these documents,
[152]
Do your signature on plain paper
[155]
because specimen signature is required and scan it too.
[159]
After completing all these documents, you've to go online.
[163]
As I showed you in the previous video also,
[165]
you can click on the link given in the description or comment section
[172]
After clicking on that link, you'll see this Zerodha window on your screen
[177]
And here you've to fill in your full name, mobile number, and email.
[181]
While filling in these details,
[184]
remember that you don't have to use the same mobile number Or email id which you used before here
[188]
Many people have this query that their mobile number Or email is not getting accepted here
[192]
So if you used it before, then it would not be accepted
[194]
That's why you have to fill fresh email or number.
[197]
After this, either you can choose call me back option
[200]
In this, Zerodha's team will guide you on the phone
[203]
But since we're watching that process here, online as well as offline
[206]
so in this case, you can select "continue to signup"
[211]
I already filled in my details and clicked on it.
[213]
You'll now see this window, open your Zerodha account
[217]
And a verification link will be sent to your email.
[220]
I got this link on my email so let me click on it.
[224]
So here you have to set a password, let me set it.
[230]
I've filled in the password and now I'll click on continue.
[232]
Now you have to fill your PAN, let me do that
[236]
After this, you've to fill in the date of birth according to your pan
[239]
Once you filled all these, click on confirm and let's continue it.
[244]
So now this window will get opened.
[246]
I am explaining you this process on desktop,
[248]
so you can either do this process on desktop or mobile phone
[251]
The process is same in both.
[253]
Now you've to do the payment.
[255]
If you want to trade in equity & currency,
[258]
means if you want to invest in shares and currency,
[262]
Then you have to pay only Rs.300 but if in future, you also want to trade in the commodity,
[267]
Then you've to pay Rs.200 extra.
[269]
I would recommend paying Rs.500 together because it's not that big amount
[273]
And you'll have an option in the future for trading in commodities.
[277]
Here, you're getting options to pay through google pay, net banking, or cards
[280]
So I'm selecting net banking or cards option
[282]
Let's pay and continue.
[283]
Now we're getting card, net banking, or wallet options.
[288]
I am selecting the card option.
[290]
So I think it's taking us to the next window.
[293]
And the payment is done. Congratulations Mukul.
[296]
And now I have to put my bank details here.
[298]
So I already kept all these ready.
[301]
Let's fill IFSC here.
[303]
And after filling the IFSC code, it will automatically take MICR
[306]
and I also filled my bank account number
[308]
Here we've to fill in some background information, so enter all that here.
[312]
After this, you'll fill in the rest of your details
[315]
Marital status, occupation, trading experience, and your annual income.
[318]
Are you politically exposed?
[320]
If you're into politics then you can enter 'Yes'. I'll enter 'No' here.
[323]
After this, scroll down.
[325]
So you can read all this. Let me tick all these boxes and then click on continue.
[331]
After this, you have to create your Digilocker account. It's very easy.
[336]
Now linking of Aadhaar is done through Digilocker
[339]
You don't have to do much. Just click on this link
[342]
Enter your mobile number and you'll get an OTP
[345]
Enter that OTP and after that, enter your Aadhaar
[349]
And your account will get created.
[351]
You will see this interface. I had already linked it.
[355]
So now your Aadhaar will start reflecting in issued documents.
[359]
Now let's get back to Zerodha window
[363]
Here we'll click all this. Already have a Digilocker account, Aadhaar is linked
[367]
Click on it.
[369]
Link your Digilocker with Zerodha
[371]
So here is your account and let me fill in my username and password
[376]
which I used in Digilocker and now allow this and click on 'sign in'
[383]
So once I signed in, this window is opened and I clicked on share and stay locked in.
[388]
Now click on 'link your Digilocker with Zerodha'
[392]
After waiting for a while, you'll see this window with all your details written
[397]
Fill in all these details again as I'm doing
[402]
Scroll down and fill in some more details which we entered before also
[406]
Bank account and background info
[408]
On filling IFSC code, you'll see MICR
[410]
Now let me fill bank account number
[412]
Now scroll down and fill in the remaining details.
[415]
Fill annual income, occupation, experience, politically exposed
[422]
If you are in politics then select 'Yes' but I'll select 'No'
[426]
Fill in the remaining details.
[428]
You can click all these, read all in detail and then click on continue.
[433]
Now you will see an OTP like I've got 9133 and now you have 2 options
[439]
Either you can write this OTP on plain paper and stand in front of your webcam
[443]
if you're doing it on your desktop or you can show your mobile
[449]
Or if you're opening account on your phone, then you can write on paper and show it like this
[454]
This is in-person verification.
[456]
Let's click on 'Start IPV'
[458]
So I have written this OTP on a paper and click on 'Take video'
[463]
I think it's clearly visible so let's click on 'Save IPV'
[466]
Are you sure? Ok
[468]
So now you'll get a window like this and here we have 2 options
[472]
Either we can print these forms,
[475]
we have equity and commodity forms because I subscribed for both.
[480]
Print these, sign them, and courier these forms.
[484]
This was the offline method.
[486]
2nd option is, if your Aadhaar is linked to your mobile,
[488]
then you can wait for OTP and click on it
[491]
Since mine is linked, so I will click on continue
[495]
And here I have to fill in bank proofs and income proofs about which I told you before
[501]
So here I attached bank proof. Scroll down and in income proof, I'll select my ITR.
[508]
And after income proof, I'll add my current signature about which I told you to do on a white paper.
[515]
Let's select that file
[517]
Besides this, it's asking for my PAN copy so let's attach that also
[521]
When I was attaching PAN copy, it was not accepting PDF so keep that in mind
[528]
It asks for a password in PDF file so store your PAN in JPG format
[533]
So I uploaded the JPG file because it is accepting it as a picture.
[537]
Now let's move on
[538]
Here we're asked to e-sign equity and commodity
[541]
Let's do e-sign for equity first,
[542]
You can select email verification code and continue
[546]
Now let me check the security code I received in my email
[550]
I've got this code so I'll copy it and paste it there
[554]
Submit and let's see which window opens.
[557]
Complete your profile, select 'I agree', and proceed to esign
[563]
Now it will ask for your Aadhaar number and after filling that,
[566]
check this box and click on 'Request OTP'
[568]
I'll first type my Aadhaar number here.
[571]
Check this box and request for OTP
[573]
If you didn't received the OTP at once as I didn't received it, click on 'resend OTP'
[579]
So I received OTP for the second time and now I'll click on 'submit'.
[582]
And after this, esign verification will be done.
[585]
Now I got all these forms which I need to esign
[589]
So click on 'sign now'
[591]
It is asking for Aadhaar number again so I'm entering it once again
[594]
Click on request OTP again and submit it again.
[598]
I think it's happening 2 times so it asks 2 times for OTP
[602]
And our signature is completed and now you can download the forms
[607]
These are the forms you can keep for your records.
[614]
And the process is completed.
[616]
If you go through the offline process, then you have to send these forms to Zerodha
[620]
But in this case, you don't need to send it anywhere because it's already done.
[623]
After this, esign for commodity also has the same process which I'll complete right now.
[627]
So I completed the sign-up process for the commodity as well.
[632]
If you're following the offline process,
[634]
then you have to send all the signed forms to this address
[637]
I think now you might have understood the whole process
[640]
And I tried to answer your maximum questions in this video.
