thanks to you and your ideas that we're
[2]
actually sitting here together in the
[3]
NASA reserve and officially launching
[6]
the gem fields conservation gemstone
[8]
program
[14]
[Music]
[25]
I had a fascination with with nature and
[28]
gemstone for me a part of nature this is
[30]
natural beauty and to find a way where
[34]
the beauty of the mineral world the gem
[36]
of the mineral world can support and
[38]
promote the gem of the living world that
[41]
are protected area it's really a kind of
[45]
simple idea that is not that easy
[47]
actually to put in practice but may open
[50]
that worse you know trade and if
[52]
gemstones can play a small role in
[54]
helping both the communities and the
[56]
conservation living side by side as they
[59]
do here that would be wonderful
[64]
[Music]
[69]
what is the reason why you know Jim
[71]
fields are opening without of supporting
[73]
the Nazarene project all you need to do
[75]
is look behind me at the absolute
[77]
spectacular beauty of the niacin reserve
[80]
and really we've come here for two
[83]
reasons number one was to meet Keith and
[87]
Colleen beg we run the Murray
[89]
reoperation and whom we have the
[92]
pleasure and privilege of supporting
[94]
over a three-year program and having
[98]
seen with my own eyes
[99]
the work that they're doing it's on a
[102]
totally different level and really quite
[104]
incredible the second reason that we're
[106]
here is because we've had the
[109]
long-standing ambition of trying to
[112]
increase the amount of conservation work
[114]
that we're doing both in Zambia where
[117]
the emeralds of mind but also in
[119]
Mozambique where the rubies in mind
[123]
[Music]
[146]
[Music]
[151]
and this is our biggest production fit
[153]
that was really money the most of the
[155]
rubies you see in our auctions have been
[157]
produced from this bit
[165]
so the secondary or and primary or is
[167]
directly transported to this plan
[172]
this is the mantra buyers really mining
[174]
processing plant we are feeding around
[176]
150 tons per hour into the front end of
[179]
the processing plant that then feeds
[181]
into a DMS which differs slightly from
[183]
the way a jig would work or a rotary
[185]
plant would work we will also have a new
[188]
project under construction which is our
[189]
new sort house and then the process
[191]
plant will feed directly into the sort
[193]
houses to reach the bus you did away
[196]
some heavy rain and everything that was
[199]
dusty was wash away and actually a lot
[202]
of rubies are accumulated here so this
[204]
is probably the easiest place in the
[206]
world in order to collect samples but
[209]
sadly this sample are just so nice in
[213]
color but they are actually very very
[214]
included but for de mogi point of view
[217]
regarding a chemistry on inclusion you
[220]
have quite a lot of stones that are
[222]
useful for a lab but for mining company
[225]
is not the same so within a few minutes
[227]
I will be able to collect probably about
[230]
100 gram of this material that then will
[235]
be able to bring to the lab inner
[237]
bearing
[237]
[Music]
[246]
once we have removed you we then
[248]
backfill with the other body and then
[250]
replant local Mozambican saplings and
[253]
rehabilitate the land to regrow a forest
[259]
[Music]
[264]
as we are opening the pit as we are
[266]
extending our pits
[267]
we are backfilling we are using the
[269]
overburden removed and back filling into
[271]
the pit at the same time on top of that
[273]
overburden on top of that back film we
[275]
will rehabilitate the land with our
[276]
local saplings so two of our pits have
[279]
been completely rehabilitated a third
[281]
one the current my gloat over pit three
[284]
is currently under a rehabilitation
[286]
process I'm super happy is that you know
[290]
you took the lead gen feeis took the
[292]
lead into a conservation charity or
[294]
conservation gem mining and I think that
[298]
this is a way to go and I hope that you
[300]
will have a great success and you know
[303]
thanks to your support which place like
[305]
YES on some other place in Africa we'll
[307]
be able to to thrive and then bring some
[310]
positive name and positive feeling to
[314]
people will wear Africa gemstone
[318]
well there's no doubt that if you you're
[320]
protecting a place as big as NASA you
[323]
are going to need loads of different
[326]
models different partnerships no single
[331]
entity can can protect a place of the
[333]
size and I think this is one of the last
[335]
chances in Africa indeed in the world
[338]
where we can try and stabilize and
[341]
protect a wilderness on the scale so
[344]
it's gonna need people like gem fields
[346]
who are doing an amazing job raising
[349]
revenue for government in the couple -
[352]
Garlick province but can also do and
[354]
make a huge influence here in the answer
[356]
especially after losing tentative 10,000
[359]
unified we need to gather all the forces
[362]
of all the people who want for any
[364]
reason who want to you know keep this
[366]
place alive
[367]
- together and to work together in order
[370]
to protect it
[371]
[Music]
[382]
