Salesperson Video Equipment 馃帴 How Much Should You Spend? - YouTube

I look great do you?
[6]
This week we're going to be looking
[9]
at hardware, specifically cameras,
[11]
microphones, lighting and a few techniques
[13]
to help you look better on video.
[16]
So I'm gonna run through five different home
[18]
office setups at five different budget levels
[20]
to show you what that might look like. Before
[22]
we do that though, I want to talk to Sales Feed's
[24]
very own Dan Beresh, our Video Producer
[27]
about the importance of quality video
[29]
just as it's important to dress for
[31]
the role you want. It's also important to make sure
[33]
that you have the right camera and audio setup
[36]
so that people can hear and see you clearly
[38]
if you have a lower end laptop, you really
[40]
want to think about upgrading your video and especially
[43]
your audio to make sure that you can really show up
[45]
well in those calls. If your video is
[47]
not totally perfect but the person can see you
[49]
fine. But if your audio is
[51]
really crackly or there's some loud
[54]
background noise or it's just a bit
[56]
of echo in the room because you're using, you
[58]
know, kind of a garbage microphone. That's
[60]
the first thing that I would recommend really
[62]
trying to improve because that
[64]
means that what you are communicating
[66]
is going to be understood clearly.
[69]
And that's frankly the whole purpose of meeting right?
[71]
Here's our pretend office for today.
[74]
Let's get started.
[76]
So this is the most basic setup. We're using
[78]
the built in webcam and microphone on
[80]
our company provided Macbook Air. However,
[83]
without spending any money, there are some drastic
[85]
improvements we can make to this setup
[87]
if you put your camera at the same level
[89]
as your eyes and then you additionally
[91]
angle it So that your eyes
[94]
are approximately 2/3 of the
[96]
way up the frame. That's going
[98]
to make you look the best. So what we're gonna want
[100]
to do is increase the height of the laptop so that
[102]
the camera is at eye level with us
[104]
to do this. You can use a stack of books,
[106]
a laptop stand or even a standing desk.
[108]
If you have one available, the number one way to
[110]
improve your setup without spending money
[113]
is to think about where the window is in the room
[115]
and to place your setup based on the window.
[117]
You never want the window to be in the background.
[120]
The sun is such a powerful light
[122]
source that it is inevitably going to be way more
[124]
powerful than anything in the room and you are just going to
[126]
look dark
[127]
and if your room has a lot of echo, you can add a rug
[130]
to absorb some of the sound. We're also going to give that camera
[132]
lens a quick clean and just like that. We
[134]
should see some drastic improvements in the way we
[136]
look and sound, making sure that we're eye
[138]
level with our prospects not talking down
[140]
to anyone. So this of course is
[143]
better. But what are some affordable things
[145]
that we can do to improve this? We're gonna
[147]
add a pair of headphones too are set up for this video.
[149]
We're gonna be using these skull candy inc headphones
[151]
and we're also going to change the light bulbs in the room
[153]
to a daylight bulb for daylight bulbs
[155]
are gonna be looking for a temperature of over 5000
[158]
kelvin's. I also find having daylight
[160]
bulbs helps with my energy throughout the day.
[162]
A cheap headset like this is going to have a couple of extra
[164]
benefits. Number one, we're gonna block out outside
[166]
distractions, you're gonna be able to hear your customers better.
[169]
But also this microphone is closer to your
[171]
mouth and is often a little bit better than the one
[173]
inside of the Macbook
[174]
microphone quality.
[175]
A lot of it is about the proximity of the
[177]
microphone to your mouth. So this is
[179]
a really nice microphone but it's actually really just
[182]
giving great audio quality because it's like right
[184]
next to me, the further away you put that
[186]
microphone, the more you're hearing of the echo in the room
[189]
Most people have a set of these lying
[190]
around. Anyway. Alright, let's start spending
[192]
some real money. first we'll get a headset and
[194]
or USB mic for a headset,
[196]
we're gonna be using the Razer Kraken for the
[198]
USB microphone. We're going to be using the blue
[201]
snowball. Then we'll add a webcam for
[203]
our webcam. We're gonna be using the AVerMedia
[205]
Lives Streamer cam 313.
[207]
A lot of webcams will advertise 4k
[210]
1080 HD what you want to feel
[212]
is that this is something that is really showing
[214]
your room as it looks to your own human eye.
[217]
And lastly we'll add a ring light,
[219]
you can pick up a generic ring light for around
[221]
$15 on amazon. Some come on tripods
[223]
and others you can clamp it to your desk.
[225]
This one even comes with colorful modes as well.
[228]
A lot of these ring lights come to the phone stand. Most
[230]
smartphones these days have incredible cameras
[233]
and microphones already built into them. This
[235]
is going to be higher quality than almost all USB
[237]
webcams on the market. The downside is
[239]
you can't share your screen on your phone so
[241]
you can't use this for presenting or demos,
[243]
a USB mic and webcam like this
[246]
is as far as you need to go as a seller,
[248]
it's all very simple to use as well.
[250]
The blue snowball, the webcam and the ring light
[252]
are all simple USB plug ins.
[254]
You can also consider using the microphone on
[256]
a headset like this one. A lot of these webcams
[259]
come with built in mics like the one I'm using now.
[261]
However, I find the quality of a USB
[263]
mic or headset to be better as a
[265]
seller. You probably won't need to go any further
[267]
than this. However, if you're super passionate
[269]
about your quality, you want to start a podcast,
[272]
youtube channel or you frequently present
[274]
on webinars. Then the next level is for
[276]
you before we take a look at the next set up.
[278]
I want to tell you about today's video sponsor.
[280]
Vidyard. Vidyard is a free platform
[283]
that allows you to easily record, edit
[285]
and send your prospects videos.
[287]
They have a super easy to use chrome extension
[289]
and even let you know how many times your video
[291]
has been opened by your prospect whilst Vidyard
[294]
is free to sign up for and use, they're also
[296]
offering 30 days of Vidyard Pro
[298]
for free. If you use the promo Code "TECHTALKS"
[301]
the pro plan adds branding
[302]
further analytics so you can see how much of your videos
[305]
are being watched and the option to add a call to action
[307]
so that your prospects can put the time with you after
[309]
they've watched your video, we've left the link to sign up for
[311]
free in the description as well as the promo Code
[314]
"TECHTALKS" So you can get your 30 days of Vidyard
[316]
Pro for free back to the video. The first thing
[318]
we can do is replace our USB Mic and headset
[320]
with a high end USB mic for our
[322]
higher end USB microphone. We're going to be using
[324]
the Blue Yeti. Next, we'll
[326]
replace our webcam with a camcorder
[329]
on a tripod for our camcorder. We're
[331]
gonna be using the Canon Vixie A h F
[333]
R 800 we'll add in a second
[335]
ring light to make sure that we're well lit and this is what
[337]
that looks like this set up. one more expensive.
[339]
It's going to be ideal for people who frequently talk
[341]
on webinars. I want to start a podcast
[343]
or just starting out on youtube. A setup like
[346]
this one is going to put you in the top 1%
[348]
of sellers and most people are going
[350]
to be very impressed by this quality. This is really
[352]
where the curve of how much you spend
[355]
versus how much you get back starts to
[357]
flatten out. You can still do better than this
[359]
though, for the highest end set up. What we can do is
[361]
replace the ring lights with box lights, replace
[363]
the USB mic with a boom mic
[366]
for our microphone. We're gonna be using the rode
[368]
NTG2, multi powered
[370]
condenser shotgun microphone. Keep in mind
[372]
if you want to use this type of microphone, you will need an
[374]
audio interface in this case. We're using
[376]
the Behringer Euphoria UMC
[379]
202 HD and replace our camcorder
[381]
with a professional camera for our high
[383]
end camera. We're going to be using the black Magic
[385]
design, pocket cinema camera in 4k
[387]
and the Canon lens will
[389]
set you back another $1500.
[391]
And this is what that looks like. This
[393]
is a professional quality studio
[396]
setup. I would only ever recommend this
[398]
to professional content creators, big Youtubers.
[400]
People who make videos as part of their job like
[402]
myself. The reason being this comes with a
[404]
hefty price tag but as a result,
[406]
the quality is incredible. I the
[409]
subject and very well lit more so
[411]
from one side than the other. I'm in focus.
[413]
While my background is out of focus.
[415]
My audio sounds great from this directional
[417]
boom mic, which is only picking up audio from
[419]
this area right here. But yeah, this would be
[422]
total overkill for any regular
[424]
cellar. I got to know though....
[425]
What do you think?
