Get a Unique Entity ID - YouTube
Channel: unknown
[5]
Welcome to this video walkthrough of getting
a Unique Entity ID in SAM.gov for non-federal
[13]
entities. In this video, we will show you how to
get your Unique Entity ID for SAM without needing
[20]
to complete an entity registration. What is the
difference between only getting a Unique Entity ID
[28]
and registering your entity? The Unique Entity ID
from SAM is a 12-character, alphanumeric value
[36]
assigned, managed, and owned by the federal
government. SAM.gov is the system that assigns it.
[45]
The Unique Entity ID from SAM validates your
organization's legal business name and address.
[51]
It is a verification that your organization
is what you say it is.
[58]
An entity registration allows your
organization the opportunity to receive
[63]
a contract or assistance directly from the
federal government, not from another contractor
[69]
or awardee. You need to register your entity
in SAM.gov when you want to bid on federal
[75]
contracts as a prime contractor or seek
federal assistance as a prime awardee.
[82]
Entity registrations include getting the
Unique Entity ID (SAM) and require assertions,
[91]
representations and certifications, and
other information about your business.
[97]
Some organizations that do business
with the federal government,
[101]
such as sub-awardees, do not directly bid
on contracts or apply for assistance and
[107]
may not need to complete an entity registration.
There may be other situations where a federal
[114]
agency directs you to get a Unique Entity ID
from SAM or fully register in SAM.gov.
[122]
If you have an entity registration in SAM.gov
today, active or inactive, you are all set!
[130]
Your Unique Entity ID from SAM was already
assigned to you. You can view it now by signing
[136]
into SAM.gov and locating your entity registration
record in your workspace or in an entity search.
[150]
If you do not have an entity registration in SAM.gov
but you do need to get a Unique Entity ID
[158]
from SAM, we will walk you
through the steps to request it now.
[163]
Have the following information ready to request
your Unique Entity ID:
[169]
Your legal business name; the physical
address of your business,
[173]
including your ZIP code + 4;
and a SAM.gov user account.
[179]
You can set up a SAM.gov user account quickly.
[183]
Select "Sign In" from the upper-right corner of the
SAM.gov homepage and accept the government terms.
[191]
Login.gov manages usernames and passwords for
SAM.gov. If you already have a Login.gov account
[199]
you can connect your SAM.gov
account to it by signing in here.
[204]
If you do not have a Login.gov account, select
"Create an account" and then follow the instructions.
[211]
When you have your account set up and all of
your information available, sign in to SAM.gov.
[219]
When you sign in from the SAM.gov homepage, you
will be navigated to your Workspace. On the "Entity
[226]
Management" widget, select the "Get Started" button to
begin your request for your Unique Entity ID (SAM).
[234]
You can also start the "Get Unique Entity ID from
SAM" request from the home page. Select "Get Started"
[241]
on the home page and then select "Get Started" once
again from the current page. Here you will have
[248]
two choices: you can get a Unique Entity ID from
SAM only, or you can start an entity registration.
[258]
Remember, you do not need to register your entity
to get a Unique Entity ID for SAM. However, if you
[264]
do register your entity, you will be assigned
a Unique Entity ID (SAM) during that process.
[272]
Since you have determined that you
only need the Unique Entity ID for SAM,
[277]
select "Get Unique Entity ID."
[282]
Enter the information that you gathered,
your legal business name, and the physical address
[287]
of your business, including your ZIP code + 4.
[294]
When you are ready, select "Next."
[298]
On this page, you will confirm that your
organization's information is correct.
[304]
If the system is unable to locate your correct entity information,
select "Create Incident" to get help from the Federal Service Desk.
[318]
You also have the option to restrict the public
search of your information. If you uncheck this
[326]
box, only you and federal government users will be
able to search and view your entity information.
[334]
Now that you have confirmed your information,
you can select "Receive Unique Entity ID"
[339]
to be assigned the Unique Entity ID for SAM, but
first, you must check the box certifying that you
[345]
are authorized to conduct transactions on behalf
of the entity. Congratulations, you have gotten your
[353]
Unique Entity ID from SAM. SAM.gov will send you
an email confirmation with your Unique Entity ID.
[361]
If all you needed was the Unique Entity ID from
SAM, then you are done. If you need to view your
[368]
Unique Entity ID from SAM in the future or if
you just need to update your organization's
[373]
information, sign in to SAM.gov and go to the
Entity Management widget in your Workspace.
