My London Apartment Tour| Rental Guide | Cost, Process & Tips to rent - YouTube
Channel: Desi Couple in London
[12]
Hello guys, welcome to my channel funplugged
and today I will show you my apartment
[13]
as it is quarantine time and we cant go out,
so thought to make this video so that you
[18]
guys can have an idea about how are the apartments
in london.
[30]
And I will also let you know which are the
websites you can visit to find an apartment
[33]
plus agent fees, cost etcetra
[35]
So lets go inside my home
[41]
Just after I enter the apartment, there is
this storage cupboard which is not very big
[47]
but still has some space for our shoes, clothes airer etc.
[55]
Next is the cupboard where washing machine
and boiler are placed, here for central heating
[67]
and water heating, the boiler is used
The washing machine is fully automatic and
[75]
you can dry the clothes as much as you want
, depends on the degree you choose and wash cycles
[90]
This is another space where we can hang the jackets and place our laundry bag and hoover
[98]
Now lets go to our living room and dining room
[103]
In the new apartments living ,dining room and kitchen are attached, may be in older
builds its not the case
[125]
This one is a furnished apartment and the
furniture is provided by the landlord and
[128]
this is my personal favourite space in the
home, where I sit comfortably and watch a
[132]
lot of movies and webseries
Look at the view, how beautiful this is
[157]
So next I will show you my dining area, it
is actually quite small Lets go
[162]
The table is extendible and usually we keep it collapsed for two people
[169]
but it can easily accomodate 4 people by extending it out
[175]
Next I will take you to the kitchen which is one of the most important places in a house
[179]
This is a pretty standard modular kitchen which you will find mostly in all the apartments in London
[185]
I will show you the appliances that are fit
in this kitchen,
[190]
There is this dishwasher which is of small size
[197]
you will find different sizes fit in different buildings But this one is enough for two people
[202]
This is an induction hob which is smart and if I switch it on and do not place anything,
it will not work and show signal
[222]
There are total 3 variants of hob, induction hob I have already shown you, second is ceramic
[227]
which works on heating and can be found in a bit older buildings
[233]
and third one is gas hob which works with gas and is common in India
[240]
Microwave is integrated and you guys know how to use it
[246]
Then there is oven which we don't use it quite a lot but these are the appliances which are
[250]
fit in mostly all apartments
Lets move to the fridge which is a full size
[255]
one, here the upper compartment is fridge
and lower one is freezer (opposite to what we have in india)
[270]
So this is the best area of the apartment which is balcony
[273]
Today its really windy outside, so let me grab my jacket first
[288]
This is the docklands area where the ships used to load and unload during the old times
[295]
to import or export any goods or materials
[300]
Now its a residential area, look at this how beautiful this is
[305]
river and the greenery
This is the London's train (or I should say its lifeline)
[322]
At the right side, the greenery that you can see is Thames Barrier park
[327]
which is a very big public park situated next to Thames river
[336]
Lets go to our bedroom now
[340]
this is our wardrobe
[346]
You can see the amazing view from here also
[352]
you can see the millenium mill right across the river where many films have been shot
[357]
the most famous one was spiderman
This is a small temple of ours where we pray
[372]
This radiator is used for heating and in london mostly the weather is cold
[376]
so you will find radiators here commonly, but there will not be any fans.
[382]
There is another type of heating which heats from under the floor
[389]
Next let me show you my bathroom
[393]
This bathtub is very basic and mostly attached in the bathrooms here.
[396]
There is storage behind these mirrors where you can put all your stuff related to bathroom
[410]
So the space is quite a lot, this is towel
dryer to hang towels and dry them
[416]
This is another storage space here
[425]
So most of the apartments have this security device which can show you who is downstairs
[430]
(outside the building) and you can talk to that person via this device as well as open the door for him/her
[440]
So Now I will let you know what things you will have to do to rent an apartment in london
[446]
These are some of the websites which you can visit and explore to find available apartments
[468]
You have to show your interest to the agent by either email or phone call
[471]
then they will
confirm the viewing timings/date of the apartment
[475]
After that if you like the property you have
to make an offer and you have to give a
[479]
holding deposit to book the apartment (which is one week's rent in most cases)
[483]
Here, multiple agents dont usually have the same property.
[490]
So after paying the holding deposit, if thats accepted by the landlord then
[497]
all your background details are checked thoroughly including employment,
previous residency references etc.
[507]
And you have to provide some documents as well, for ex: salary slips, bank statements
[513]
to prove that you can pay the rent
So you have to be very careful what information
[519]
you provide while filling the background verification forms,
[526]
because if any of that is incorrect your payment will be forfeited
[537]
After this verification, a contract will be shared by the agency so please read it carefully before signing it and clear all the doubts
[542]
Kindly ensure to get a break clause so that you can leave the apartment after a few months
[547]
if you dont like it or for any other reasons.
[550]
Common one is 4+2 break clause in which after 4 months, you can leave the apartment any
[555]
time after serving notice period of 2 months
[558]
When you move in to the property the inventory check is done in which detail condition of each and every thing in property is listed
[562]
and this process is usually done when you have to collect the keys
[572]
Regular inspections will be conducted to ensure you are maintaining the property rightly
[582]
So at the end of tenancy, you have to get
the apartment deep cleaned and you have to
[592]
hire a professional cleaning agent to do so
which cost you around 150 GBP to 300 GBP (depends
[598]
on the size of the property)
Although the rent varies depending on the
[608]
area and size of the apartment, but the apartment
I showed you is worth 1320 GBP per month,
[618]
although this wasnt the quoted price.
[620]
It was 1365 GBP but we were able to negotiate
a bit and get it for 1320 GBP per month So
[632]
this was the whole process to rent an apartment in London
