Fixing Print Quality Issues on the
HP Ink Tank 310 and 410 Printer Series
[10]
If the quality of the printed document
or photo is not as expected,
[14]
follow these procedures to
troubleshoot print quality issues.
[18]
Low ink levels can impact print quality.
[21]
Refill the tanks that are low on ink.
[24]
HP recommends using genuine HP ink
and printheads for best results.
[30]
HP cannot guarantee the quality or
reliability of non-HP ink.
[36]
Caution: Do not let the ink levels fall below
the minimum fill line when printing.
[41]
Very low levels can result in reduced print
quality or damage to the ink system.
[46]
Using the ink tank windows, visually
check the printer ink levels.
[51]
Add ink to any of the tanks where the level
is below or close to the minimum fill line.
[57]
Try to print a document.
[59]
If the print quality is unacceptable,
continue to the next step.
[63]
Make sure the paper you are
using matches the print job.
[67]
Remove the paper from the input tray.
[70]
Use only clean, wrinkle-free paper.
[72]
Do not use damaged or curled paper.
[76]
Use the correct paper type for your print job.
[79]
For text documents, plain paper with
ColorLok technology works well.
[84]
For documents with dense printing,
such as high contrast graphics or photos,
[89]
use HP Advanced Photo Paper
for best results.
[93]
Some paper might not absorb ink
as well as others.
[96]
If your prints smear easily, make sure
you are using recommended paper.
[101]
Load the paper print side down
into the input tray.
[104]
Some paper, such as photo paper and envelopes,
have printing and nonprinting sides.
[111]
When using photo paper, load 10-20 sheets of
photo paper only when you are ready to print,
[117]
and then put the unused paper
back in the packaging.
[120]
Store photo paper in its original packaging
inside a resealable plastic bag if possible.
[126]
Store the paper on a flat surface
in a cool, dry place.
[131]
Try using a different paper if possible.
[133]
This helps determine if the problem
is related to the paper.
[137]
Try to print a document.
[139]
If the print quality is unacceptable,
continue to the next step.
[143]
Check the print and paper settings to
make sure hey match the print job.
