In this video we are going to  look at a couple progressive
[3]
exercise options for rehab of medial  collateral ligament injuries of the knee.
[20]
Hi and welcome to Physiotutors. The MCL is the  most commonly injured ligament in the knee.
[27]
Luckily it has the greatest healing potential  of any knee ligament due to its anatomical
[33]
and biological properties. You may be familiar  with the grading system to classify MCL injuries.
[43]
Grade 1 and 2 can successfully be treated  with conservative management, possibly
[50]
including a brace in the initial rehab period,  and have a good short-term prognosis as well
[57]
as an early return to play window. Isolated  Grade 3 injuries however, characterized by
[64]
marked valgus instability, are rare and  usually treated surgically as they mostly occur
[70]
together with other injuries such as ACL tears. If you want to learn more about the epidemiology,
[77]
course and prognosis check out our online  course on orthopedic physiotherapy of the
[83]
upper and lower extremities at the link  in the video description down below.
[89]
As the MCL ensure stability against valgus moments  at the knee we are going to look at a couple
[97]
progressive exercises to build capacity  for this task. From early to late stages
[158]
of rehab.
[397]
We have linked a couple of literature  reviews in the description down below
[401]
if you want to dig a little  deeper into the research.
[407]
Again should you be looking for a concise  guide on how to assess and treat several
[412]
common orthopedic pathologies of  the upper and lower extremities,
[417]
check out our online course at the link in  the description below. There you will also
[423]
find more than 10 other extensive online  courses on various topics in physiotherapy.
