[9]
what's up guys and welcome back to my
[11]
channel where i talk all about money my
[12]
name is adam nelson and today i'm going
[14]
to be talking to you about my thoughts
[16]
about the Webull app
[17]
specifically for trading cryptocurrency
[19]
now i have a bit of experience trading
[20]
cryptocurrency on exchanges
[22]
a few years ago as well as buying and
[25]
selling a little bit on coinbase but i
[27]
try not to do that too much just because
[28]
of the fees anyway i recently downloaded
[30]
the Webull app in order to buy and sell
[32]
dogecoin
[33]
and i had some experiences which were a
[35]
bit different from buying and selling on
[37]
an exchange or on coinbase and i wanted
[39]
to share those with you because i think
[40]
it might be a little helpful and just so
[42]
you know there are some hidden fees
[44]
with Webull when you trade
[45]
cryptocurrencies and i'm going to be
[46]
talking about that in just a little bit
[48]
so first i want to talk about why i
[49]
decided to use Webull instead of any
[51]
other exchange that was out there
[53]
and it really came down to the fact that
[54]
i didn't want to use some sketchy
[56]
chinese website for trading
[58]
cryptocurrencies i've seen too many
[59]
instances where people have lost their
[61]
money because they store
[62]
on these exchanges which aren't as
[64]
secure as you might think they are or
[66]
the owners just abscond with all the
[67]
money and so i'm a little skeptical of
[69]
using things like that okay so let's
[70]
dive right into some of the pros of
[72]
using the Webull app to trade
[73]
cryptocurrencies
[74]
ignoring some of the perks that you get
[76]
when you first sign up for a Webull
[77]
account or when you refer friends to use
[79]
the weibull account such as getting free
[80]
stocks
[81]
i think that Webull has a lot to offer
[83]
when it comes to trading
[84]
cryptocurrencies
[85]
first of all and most important to me
[87]
there are no commission fees when you're
[88]
trading cryptocurrencies on Webull now
[90]
just to clarify this not to say that
[92]
there are no hidden fees because there
[93]
certainly are
[94]
however i'm going to be talking about
[96]
those in just a little bit like i
[97]
mentioned before the second pro i wanted
[99]
to touch on of using the Webull app to
[100]
trade cryptocurrencies is that you can
[102]
get your money into the app
[103]
absolutely free you can do this by using
[106]
an ach transfer from your bank account
[108]
and you can just transfer those funds
[109]
directly into the app you can also
[110]
withdraw that money afterwards after
[112]
you've made a million dollars in the app
[114]
trading cryptocurrencies
[115]
back into your bank account for
[117]
absolutely no fee again
[118]
now if you want a little faster yes you
[120]
can pay to wire it over
[122]
but this will cost a little bit of a fee
[124]
another reason you might decide to trade
[125]
cryptocurrency using the Webull app is
[127]
because they support some of the most
[128]
popular cryptocurrencies out there and
[130]
i'm talking about bitcoin and litecoin
[132]
ethereum and dogecoin and bitcoin cash
[135]
and there may be some others that i'm
[136]
forgetting another benefit is that you
[138]
can set up a customizable watch list
[140]
now this means if you don't care about
[141]
other stocks or index funds or anything
[143]
and you only care about cryptocurrencies
[145]
then you can only watch the prices of
[147]
those cryptocurrencies and you can
[148]
ignore everything else
[149]
and yes you can do this with plenty of
[150]
other services but it's really nice to
[152]
have it all in just one place
[154]
the other thing i really like about
[155]
weibull is that it's really user
[156]
friendly and this is really important
[158]
for anybody who hasn't really traded
[159]
before
[160]
it can be really daunting to get into
[161]
some sort of system that is overly
[163]
complex
[164]
and one thing that i really like that
[165]
Webull does is that they have these tool
[167]
tips or
[167]
messages that explain how different
[169]
things work or what different things
[170]
mean
[171]
and so this can be really friendly to
[172]
anybody new to trading cryptocurrency or
[174]
stock in general another thing that i
[176]
liked about weibull is that it looks
[177]
like they take security seriously i'm a
[179]
software engineer and so i think i
[181]
appreciated this fact when most people
[182]
would just be maybe annoyed
[184]
with it but before you can actually
[185]
trade any funds you have to enter a
[187]
secondary password
[188]
and i really like this yes it's annoying
[190]
sometimes but if i ever leave my phone
[192]
lying around
[193]
i know that somebody can't just get in
[195]
and execute trades and buy and sell and
[197]
then transfer funds out to their bank
[199]
account instead of my own because they
[200]
don't know my secondary password another
[202]
really big reason that i like using
[204]
weibull to trade cryptocurrency over
[205]
something like robinhood for example
[207]
is that i've never heard of an example
[209]
where they've had to lock down their
[211]
system and suspend
[212]
trading cryptocurrencies especially in
[214]
really high volume events
[215]
for example i was recently trading
[217]
dogecoin because i was trying to profit
[219]
off of the fact that elon musk would be
[220]
hosting saturday night live and i have a
[222]
couple videos about that if you'd like
[224]
to check those out you can just click up
[225]
there
[226]
anyway long story short dogecoin crashed
[228]
and using Webull i was able to sell my
[230]
dogecoin before i lost too much money
[232]
however
[233]
the same event happening in robin hood
[235]
had a different story they had to lock
[237]
down their account and they suspended
[238]
crypto trading entirely
[240]
and so everybody who wanted to sell at
[241]
the 70 cent mark was not able to and
[244]
they probably lost a lot more than me
[245]
now that's not to say that Webulls
[247]
perfect or that they'll never shut down
[249]
their cryptocurrency trading because of
[250]
high volume events like this in the
[252]
future
[252]
it's just i haven't heard about them
[254]
specifically i also haven't gone out and
[256]
looked for any so it's possible that
[257]
there may be a few in the past that
[259]
happened that i'm just not aware of that
[260]
said i've also heard of multiple
[262]
instances where this happens with robin
[264]
hood
[264]
and so me personally i'm going to avoid
[266]
that app and the final reason why i
[268]
really like weibull is because it makes
[269]
it really easy to buy into the meme
[271]
cryptocurrencies like dogecoin recently
[273]
my wife and i have really enjoyed
[274]
trading dogecoin and i don't think we
[276]
could do this as easily anywhere else as
[278]
we could
[279]
here on Webull okay all that said i'm
[281]
not gonna tell you that the weibull app
[282]
is perfect for trading cryptocurrencies
[284]
there are also some really negative
[285]
attributes of using this app the first
[287]
thing
[288]
is that while yes typically the ui is
[290]
really user friendly there are some
[292]
pieces which
[292]
aren't very easy to navigate for example
[294]
if you want to get into your brokerage
[296]
account using the mobile app i find it
[298]
really unintuitive the
[299]
buttons that you have to press in order
[301]
to get there i also think that they
[302]
sometimes make it a little too easy to
[304]
buy stocks or cryptocurrencies on their
[306]
web app
[307]
so just be cautious of that and another
[309]
thing that i really didn't like about
[310]
trading cryptocurrency on the weibo app
[312]
is that it felt like some of the
[313]
transactions took a really long time to
[315]
process
[316]
now i mentioned i had some experience
[317]
trading on exchanges on cryptocurrency
[320]
exchanges directly
[322]
and with those buy and sell orders i
[323]
felt like they processed instantly
[325]
whereas these i feel like they take a
[327]
few minutes even after the price crosses
[329]
the threshold like if i'm
[330]
if i have a limit buy order for example
[333]
it takes a few seconds after
[334]
or a few minutes even after it crosses
[336]
that threshold for my order to actually
[338]
process
[339]
and i only mention this because i have
[340]
actually personally lost some money
[342]
because of this
[343]
this is important to me because i watch
[344]
elon musk's tweets about dogecoin and as
[346]
soon as he tweets i want to buy dogecoin
[348]
instantly before the price goes up too
[351]
high because
[352]
i know there's almost always a chance to
[353]
make money doing that also just as a
[355]
disclaimer i'm not telling you to do
[357]
this yourself i'm not giving you any
[358]
financial advice or anything and try it
[360]
at your own risk
[362]
the other really annoying thing that i
[363]
don't like about Webull is that there is
[365]
an
[366]
hour per day where you can't execute any
[368]
cryptocurrency trades
[369]
this means that even if the price tanks
[372]
you can't sell
[373]
and even if it shoots up really really
[375]
high you can't sell you can't profit
[377]
necessarily
[378]
and it may normalize by the time that
[379]
that hour block is
[381]
up and it's not like this one hour
[382]
period happens at a time that would make
[384]
sense like
[385]
maybe midnight or one o'clock in the
[387]
morning when everybody's asleep it
[388]
happens
[389]
right in the middle of the day right
[390]
around 5 30 p.m eastern standard time i
[393]
believe so that's
[394]
really annoying the other downside of
[395]
using Webull instead of some of these
[397]
other exchanges or coinbase for example
[399]
is that you never actually own the
[400]
cryptocurrency that you buy you're
[402]
basically just trading against its value
[404]
and the reason i say that is because you
[405]
can't actually transfer
[406]
out of Webull any cryptocurrency that
[408]
you purchase into one of your own
[409]
wallets for which you have your own
[411]
private keys and so long as your
[413]
cryptocurrency is
[414]
held by anybody else you don't actually
[416]
own that now this may not be a big deal
[418]
for a lot of people if you're just
[419]
trying to get in real quick and get out
[420]
after
[421]
what you think is going to be a big
[422]
spike or pump in the price
[424]
and so that's actually why i got into
[426]
using Webull in the first place because
[428]
i wasn't too concerned about holding the
[430]
coins really long term but i feel like a
[431]
lot of people don't necessarily
[433]
understand this and i think they should
[434]
before they start buying a bunch of
[435]
cryptocurrency using some of these apps
[437]
another difficulty i had with using
[439]
weibull for trading cryptocurrency is
[440]
that it doesn't
[441]
include a depth chart now this is
[443]
something that i use personally when day
[444]
trading
[445]
to determine where the walls are where
[447]
the support is when i'm trying to buy or
[449]
sell my crypto so i can plan
[451]
what price i should come in at now for
[452]
me this wasn't a deal breaker by any
[454]
means because i knew this kind of chart
[455]
existed and i knew where i could find it
[457]
for me i just went to bittrex.com where
[460]
i could monitor this
[461]
depth chart however i did find it really
[463]
frustrating that i couldn't just monitor
[464]
everything
[465]
in one place and so i think people could
[467]
easily add something like this and maybe
[469]
they already have it for their stocks
[470]
i'm not really sure
[471]
but at least for doge and their
[472]
cryptocurrencies i didn't see anything
[474]
like this
[475]
the other major issue i had with trading
[476]
cryptocurrency is that Webull doesn't
[478]
support stop-loss orders and if you're
[480]
not already familiar with what this is
[482]
basically it's a way that you can say if
[483]
the price ever reaches this certain
[485]
price
[485]
i want to sell no matter what and it's a
[487]
way to protect yourself from losing too
[488]
much money now the alternative that i
[490]
was able to do
[491]
is just watch the charts constantly but
[493]
this wasn't very practical
[494]
and i had another monitor up while i was
[496]
working and i felt like it was
[497]
constantly distracting me and so long
[499]
term i don't think i could do this
[500]
as a software engineer it also seems
[502]
like something that would be really easy
[504]
to build and so i don't know why they
[505]
haven't done this already but maybe it's
[507]
in the works
[507]
the other gotcha that you need to know
[508]
about is that whenever you place a buy
[510]
order or a sell order
[512]
the time in force when you set it today
[514]
it's not always actually going to last
[516]
for 24 hours and i say this because
[518]
whenever you reach that one hour period
[520]
that i mentioned before
[521]
where they stop all cryptocurrency
[522]
trading well they cancel all your
[524]
cryptocurrency orders as well and this
[525]
is actually pretty frustrating because
[527]
i've lost money because of this as well
[529]
the other downside about using Webull
[530]
for trading cryptocurrency is
[532]
something that i feel like most people
[534]
can probably get around with a little
[535]
bit of planning
[536]
and that's just that it takes quite a
[538]
bit of time for your funds to actually
[539]
settle now it's my understanding that
[541]
with robinhood
[542]
you can use pending funds that are
[543]
coming into your account immediately to
[545]
trade cryptocurrency but with weibull
[547]
at least right now you have to wait
[548]
until those funds completely settle
[550]
before you can actually trade and this
[551]
is yet another thing that has cost me
[553]
money and i mentioned it in my video
[554]
where i'm talking about trading dogecoin
[556]
leading up to snl with elon musk so if
[558]
you want to hear about that more
[559]
check that out here that said you can
[560]
get around this issue just by having
[562]
enough funds already in your account
[564]
settled and ready to go for any moments
[566]
notice purchase
[567]
okay and finally i wanted to mention the
[569]
hidden fees when you're trading
[570]
cryptocurrency on Webull they're kind of
[572]
tricky about this if you don't read the
[574]
terms you may not realize that they're
[575]
actually
[576]
taking a cut out of each transaction
[578]
whenever you place a buy or
[579]
sell order and they kind of disguise it
[581]
by calling it bps or basis points and
[583]
they say they take 100 basis points for
[586]
any purchase or sell order now for a
[587]
single basis point this would be
[589]
0.01 of your buy or sell amount however
[593]
Webull takes 100 basis points
[595]
and that translates into one percent of
[597]
your buy or sell amount for example if
[599]
you wanted to buy a dogecoin and you
[600]
spent 10
[601]
on it you would only really get nine
[603]
dollars and ninety cents worth of
[604]
dogecoin for that ten dollar purchase
[606]
and that ten cents difference is going
[608]
to Webull and the same thing happens
[609]
whenever you sell as well
[610]
basically Webull's just sneakily taking a
[613]
little bit of money
[614]
and this hidden fee is legal because
[615]
you've already agreed to their terms and
[617]
they call it out in there however i know
[619]
that nobody actually reads those so
[620]
that's why i'm calling it out here and
[622]
i'm pretty sure that this would be
[623]
illegal if they did this with stocks or
[624]
anything controlled by the sec but these
[626]
aren't stocks these are cryptocurrencies
[628]
and they're not
[629]
as heavily controlled by the sec and so
[631]
i feel like Webull can get away with
[633]
what i consider to be
[634]
somewhat of a sketchy practice but also
[636]
if you're playing with cryptocurrency
[637]
you're probably going for more than just
[639]
a one percent gain
[640]
and that's probably actually pretty easy
[642]
to get and so for me that's not actually
[643]
something that's a really big deal but
[645]
it's something that you should be aware
[646]
of
[646]
okay so that covers it for the pros and
[648]
cons of using the Webull app to trade
[650]
cryptocurrencies if you found these
[651]
points helpful please consider hitting
[653]
that like button below and to wrap up
[655]
this video
[655]
overall i would still recommend that you
[657]
use weibull and it's not just because i
[659]
get free stocks if you sign up using my
[661]
link below i do think that apps like
[662]
Webull and robinhood definitely have
[664]
their place
[665]
if you're not really concerned about
[666]
owning the cryptocurrency that you're
[668]
trading and you want to make a quick
[669]
buck or
[670]
probably lose a quick buck if i'm honest
[672]
then these apps are a viable option
[674]
i also feel like most of the downsides
[676]
of using the Webull app to trade
[677]
cryptocurrencies
[678]
have a workaround so long as you know
[680]
what the problem is in the first place
[682]
and hopefully this video helps you
[683]
identify some of those pitfalls before
[685]
you get into things
[686]
so if you are looking into getting the
[688]
weibull app and starting day trading
[690]
either stocks or cryptocurrencies
[692]
please consider using my link in the
[694]
description below i do get some free
[695]
stocks and i'd be very appreciative of
[697]
any support i can get on this channel
[698]
i've also previously created a video
[700]
about the seven things you need to know
[702]
before you start day trading and trading
[704]
cryptocurrencies
[705]
is practically the same thing and so if
[707]
you're new to this and you're thinking
[708]
about actually pulling the trigger and
[710]
getting into this
[711]
i really recommend that you go watch
[712]
that video now also if you have any
[714]
other questions or think that i've
[715]
missed any
[716]
important points about trading
[717]
cryptocurrency on Webull please let me
[718]
know in the comments below i'm always
[720]
looking to learn more
[721]
and maybe i'll make another follow-up
[722]
video also if you'd like me to do
[724]
similar reviews for coinbase or
[725]
robinhood well maybe i'll go download
[727]
robinhood's app and test it out for you
[729]
if that's content you'd like to see just
[730]
let me know anyway i really appreciate
[732]
you watching this video until the very
[733]
end
[734]
thank you so much for watching and until
[736]
next time
