There's two reasons why founders worry about

dilution and the reduction of their

percentage of ownership.

And the first is it changes the return they'll get at the end, when there's an exit,

they get returns proportional to the amount of ownership they have,

and so they want to keep that slice of pies because they can.

But I think more often, founders are concerned about losing

control of the company. That if they go below 50% ownership,

suddenly the investors are going to take over and push them around.

That really isn't true until your ownership gets

much much smaller than that in practice.
